I am so sorry for your loss and know what you are going through,I also lost 3 minis to a car hitting them. Some how though the 4th one a filly who was not fully weened yet escaped without being hurt and ran back to the corral. It was not deep snow nore did they jump the fence like the police said, a sick person opened their gate up and let them out. I told the police officer why would they jump a 6 foot fence when I found the gate opened.Well now my gate is pad lock and security cameras going all the time. It has been just a year and I still think about them every day. But do not cry for them because they are running free and momma has left me her baby to care for, I finally bought 3 more mini geldings to keep the now mare company and she loves it - they all run and play together. I worry with the snow as well and what I do is every time we get a lot of snow I can be seen blowing it all away from the inside of the corral to the middle of the corral and it gives them a wide path to run in. I showed hubby this sad news and now he does not call me crazy or say I am wasting gas.

Time will heal all wounds but to me this is just a stupid saying because you never fully heal and YOU NEVER FORGET but you do move on and that takes time. I will go to sleep tonight and dream of my guys and also let them know who is comming so she and her baby will not cross alone. This is so sad and heart breaking because it does hit home to me , the one thing I must say is that she did not pass away alone, wish my guys had that much care but they did go quick and I did walk up to the momma and my zazoo and give them a kiss then a hug goodbye - the stupid police officer would not let me cross to the other side of the road to give a goodbye kiss to my little blue eyes so I have to live with that and hope he knows I will miss him as well and blew him his kiss. I do not mean to carry on just that I really really feel your pain and tears.

yet again another thank you to you all. It means alot to us all and next time I run into Justin (the guy) I willl pass on all the nice things you have all said about him. To the poor lady that lost her 3 minis, I am sso sorry that you didn't have a Justin. I'm sure Blue Eyes knows how much you love him and I am glad you got to hug and kiss your other two. I am so glad I got to cuddle and pet Cameo for a few minutes while I was making calls. She was so calm and had such beautiful soft eyes. I will always mourn her and the beautiful foals she would have made with my sweet little stallion. I hope to find another little mare like her again some day. Tonight I was out with my other mares and got to feel the one baby moving and kicking so that brought a smile to my face and my big clyde/belgian was extra lovey. It's as if they all knew. Horses are amazing creatures, aren't they!!

This is just so sad

So sorry for your loss, only time will help to heal some of your pain

Thank god for caring people that your little mare didn't have to be alone when she passed.

I just don't have any words to say how sorry I am for your loss.

and IBQuakers20 I'm sure this brings back heartache for you too

What a terrible loss, I'm so sorry for you all.

Im truely sorry for your loss breaks my heart to read all of this.

I just returned from a trip home to see one of my own very pregnant little mares, which makes your loss so much more poignant to me. I am so so sorry you had to endure that, but I hope you can find some solace in knowing from these posts and the actions of everyone involved that you aren't alone in your loss. You and the rest of your herd will be in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. The man that hit her sounds like a true gentleman - and a wonderful animal lover. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now - and hope that time will help heal your wounds.

I'm glad this guy stopped so that you know that it was an accident. It's not that this fact makes it any easier to deal with the loss, but rather that you at least know what happened and that she was being prayed for and comforted to the end.

So sorry that this happened...such a shame.

: he is a lovely gelding and is slowly warming up to me. You do replace eventually but only you will know when it is time, hubby kept telling me that the filly needed a play mate but I could not start looking until I went through all the emotiuons / anger/crying/mourning/blame/loss/emptiness so many emotions. I did eventually start looking and actually bought 3 geldings from the same person - McLennan minis, she was so helpful in finding exactally what I wanted. If I was to ever want another I would get one from her again but 4 is my limit.
