I've always loved her. Watching this it made me think that in a world filled with drug-infested, party-going, lost young singers, Madonna, for all her "in-your-faceness" (which I love) has been an example for gay men (me) and many women. She is the epitome of the old adage, "the unexamined life is not worth living". Is that Sartre? She's one of the good ones. All these little things are just trying to copy what was done a long time ago.

What a life!

Absolutely NO time for her.

Thieving child knapping ratbag!!!

Bringing up kids is a life choice- they are NOT fashion accessories.

I absolutely HATE this designer baby trend the stars seem to have got into and -well, I am probably the wrong person to ask anyway as the last pop song I listened to was so long ago I cannot remember what it was and I think the last film I saw was "Much ado about nothing"!!!

This woman used (misused) her money to buy a baby- well, at least she has made us aware of a loophole in the law.

What will now happen is that that loophole will be plugged and it will become even more difficult for a deserving person to adopt a baby.

Nice one Madonna- pity you could not live up to your name!!

Love her music, can't stand her. But I remember her from when she got started and there is a lot there to loathe!

I never liked her.

I always thought she was "trashy" from the get-go

I think there are plenty better singers out there too.

i have always loved/admired her singing/musical talent. she has come a long way from when she started for sure.

regarding the adoption well heck people do it all the time but they arent in the public eye so you dont know about it. She is donating a huge amount of money to rebuild the orphanage there so that is a positive thing. My problem with these stars doing this is there are plenty of unwanted children here in the states that need love too, but they always opt to go out of the country. Im a big believer in charity starting at home.

Good Q Matt, because it is true you never kind of like her!

I loathe her! Always have sometimes more than others!!

Interesting point you made though, because I have a dear friend Tony, who is also a gay man and he ADORES her almost an addiction

Anyhow, he says similar to you that she did so much for gay men etc, I can't agree or deny that point since I am neither gay nor a man

: But he also says she did so much for women :new_shocked: :new_shocked:

I tell you that is why I don't like her because in my opinion she didn't help women at all. I think she has always sent very mixed messages.........I am a strong, powerful woman and a ****.........kind of a I can have my cake and eat it too!!!!!!!!

Reality check maybe Madonna can do that but the average woman can't! Normally if you are overly sexual when you are young you get used and abused and stomped on........no power in that

There are tons more famous women out there who are good role models IMO she was never one of mine!!

OK off my soapbox :bgrin

Me, I'm rather lukewarm with tending towards despising her.

I don't care for the silliness she's put forth, nor the majority of her music. I do think she's talented, and she's a pretty woman, also she does what she (apparently) wants to do, which is something to applaud.

However, I think the adoption situation is sort of a publicity tactic and that makes me ill.

I do like a few of her songs, but not the usual ones.

well matt guess you and i are alone lol. must be why we get a long so well

I like quite a few of her songs but don't really know much about her so can't say anything about that part of her. I'm using one of her songs for a liberty class.

Well, sorry but I like her a lot...and she puts on one of the best concerts around!

Maybe one reason for a person her age to adopt out of the country is that the age

limit to adopt here is 40? I dunno. But IMO a child in need is a child in need, no matter

where it originates from.

I agree but really how much time has she to give a child and anyway, how come a popstar with loads of money can just jump the queue???

I am LIVID because it was OUR laws, which are supposed to be the most rigid in the world, that allowed this fiasco to happen.

Add to which she got the child under false pretences- the Nuns apparently told the father the child was being fostered and would be returned, and the fact that she is buying off her conscience with loads of money going into the home village- No, this is not acceptable.

Why does she have a God given right to a child because she has money??

There is no way a white woman would ordinarily be allowed to adopt a black child, so why is she allowed to do this??

The whole thing just stinks- I keep thinking of that bloody dog that Paris Hilton threw out because it grew too big for her handbag- I wonder what sort of life this child will have had when he looks back on it in ten years time??

I don't like her....she's a freak! But many in hollywood/music industry are, so she's not alone.

Never cared much for her music or her ways.

Does she have talent??? Many must think so or she would not have been around for so long, still annoying me after all these years!

as far as the adoption thing....at least she has decided to stop breeding...that is a good thing!

I'm with you Matt! Don't necessarily agree with all she's done, but LOVE to shake it to her songs!

How is she a freak?! "...stop breeding". Harsh.

I'm a little upset..... It certainly sounds as though people who have chosen adoption as an alternative to families are lesser in some respect. "....stop breeding"? Maybe misinterpreted, but still not a great comment. I for one, will happily choose to adopt some day and not for the sake of "stopping breeding" but choosing an alternative to my family.

i like a lot of madonna's music. I think some of the stuff she's done is a bit over the top..but it makes for great entertainment. I do NOT agree with a white family never being allowed to adopt a black child.... that seems to be becoming a thing of the past here in the states and I don't understand why ANY color of skin should be a problem? My aunt adopted a chinese baby..she's no different than any other child other than she looks "chinese" so what?!?!!? I also don't really feel this was a media tactic. So what if she wanted to adopt a child from that particular place? I guess i DON'T GET what the problem is.. so friggen what....she took that child out of those terrible conditions.. for that I applaud her no matter WHY she did it intially. From what i've heard in the PAST (before all this hoopla) madonna takes her children very seriously and spends a lot of time with them. Madonna is NOT a normal pop star in that she's not out in the public eye all the time. She had YEARS where she wasn't hardly heard or seen from at all. She seems to go in cycles and i'm certain her life is not only about the music. She's older and probably has her priorities more in line than the younger pop star that wants to booze and sleep around.
