Was just checking to see what type you had decided to go with and if you had gotten yours and planted yet. If so how big were you able to get them? I know the Green Ash grows pretty quickly but what about pests? I'm about to quit fighting this eminent domain thing and just let it go and put up the trees to block having to look at them. Just to stressful. There is also the Royal Empress tree did you check that one out? Thanks. Denise

I didn't get any trees yet but I would like to get the Green Ash. They are supposed to be fast growers, 5 foot per year, are relatively cheap and provide great poison free shade. They had they at Lowe's.

Also another tree I think I would consider for shade is a fruitless pear tree but I'm not sure about how fast they grow.

I have to find trees that are non-poisonous and easy to come by in my area. We don't have a lot of places to choose from.

Marty, the fruitless pear is called a Bartlett pear and just absolutely beautiful, especially in spring when they are all bloomed out. They do not withstand wind well. Limbs can break, and whole young trees can go over, but oh how beautiful they are, and perfectly symmetrical. I am about to buy one myself, even knowing all this about the wind. Lots of the big thoroughbred farms have them lining fences and roadways!
