So much has changed in a year. We almost gave up breeding last year after a horrible dystocia and going on our third year with no live foals. And then Max was born 5 days later, on Memorial Day Weekend 2009. This is what he looked like then, and we decided we could NOT give up.

This is Max a year later, now co-owned by Kristina Slobody, at his first AMHA show. There he took one grand and one reserve in junior stallions, and all 3 reserve grands in Ammy stallion. Competing in Junior Stallions was a 2009 World Champion and in Ammy Stallions there were 2 World Champions. And Max was shown only by a Level 1 Ammy (me) and a youth. (Kristina was showing the World Champions).

Cool to see the after pics! I have a hard time picturing what a good show foal looks like. Although it wasn't too hard to tell from the pic of that little guy!!

I remember that handsome foal. He was one of my favorites last year.

He looks wonderful as a yearling. Congratulations & best of luck with him.

WOW! That good looking little foal has certainly turned into an 'eye candy' yearling - he's gorgeous

I also think that his new little bro' will be giving him a run for his money in the future - you have two beautiful boys there!

I remember this little guy very clearly! He was one of my "favorites" of all the foals born last year. Soooo pretty!

He is maturing so nicely. Congrats on his wins. Too bad he's greying out though.

I just loved his baby color!

Wow, your boy looks fantastic! I am so glad you didn't give up on your dream. I have had a lot of problems in the foaling department as well and was ready to throw in the towel but with the encouragement from others I decided to pick myself back up and keep going. So, I put one of my buckskins on the show circuit for fun. My junior stallion won Supreme Halter Champion Open his first time out. It was so exciting that I'm sending my 2 year old buckskin filly now. I'm glad that I didn't give up on my dream either but it is so tough when you lose these beautiful little creatures.

Best of the best to you Mary.........it couldn't happen to a nicer person.
