Does the state where the horses are have a Livestock Board or Department? State Vet? Someone who overseas livestock? Here, they work with law enforcement on things like this....

Make SURE she has a copy of her original police report in her HAND and also any pics she may have of the mare are sure helpful too.

I hate to say it but I dont think that gal is going to miss FL at all, with everything getting stolen there! That is awful!

Perhaps the officer in her area could contact the officer in the area where the horse was found. A report SHOULD have been filed on it if the people are trying to 'adopt' it. Here that is called rustling if you dont go through legal channels!!

I would be checking also with feed dealers and vets in the area where the one was recently found to see who else in the area raises Minis. This may help track down someone who knows the horse anyhow.

Good grief!! Please keep us posted- I sure hope this little one makes it back to it's own family!!

This is unbelieveable on so many levels! :ugh:

First, horses are stolen. :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

Second, a horse is found and the people who found it aren't thinking of anyone but themselves. :nono:

And lastly, now she's had dogs stolen!

Good God! What is wrong with this world??

I will try to get a phone number ASAP. The people with the mini are going through legal chanels and seem to be going by the law....just not trying very hard to find the real owner. Hang in there...I am hoping and praying this is one of the missing mares...I don't even know the sex of the mini in question though.

Has anyone posted this on Smallest Horse???

Thanks so much. I have Ellen on standby for any additional info, if possible. Thanks for all your help.

I am also going to notify Debi Metcalf with NetPosse of this thread here on the LB. Just in case in the off chance this may not turn out to be one of Ellen's mares, perhaps Debi will still be able to cross reference her database in hopes of finding a rightful owner of this found mini.

God bless you for all your help, either way!

I emailed NetPosse with the info as well. Thanks! This whole situation is really pi $$ ing me off. The real owner is out there somewhere...

Ok, I just called and left a VM with Debi at NetPosse too. I just noticed on her website that she is located right there in NC, so hopefully she will be able to help find it's owner, one way or another.

Please keep me posted if you find a contact name & number of the people who found it, so I can pass it on to Ellen too. Thanks again, a million times over!

I have met the people who found the mini in their yard and I am sure it is in great care. No one who has contacted them has come close to "identifiying" the mini that was found. I guess if no one comes forward and it is in the "legal" time limit, I believe the mini would have a wonderful home.

Hi CZP1, thank you for your post. I'm grateful on behalf of this found mini that they seem to really love it, and are prepared to take it in, should it's owner not be found. However, on behalf of Ellen, I'd be grateful if you could help in at least letting us know whether or not this mini is a "mare", and if so, does it match a description of either of these mares noted in Ellen's report with NetPosse, here:

http://www.netposse.com/stolenmissing/2MiniMaresFLmar07.htm

And if so, would you please let me know a contact phone number of the people who have this mini, so that I can forward that to Ellen, so that she herself can have rightful opportunity to discuss at least the possiblity of it being one of her mares that was stolen from her? Please consider helping, if possible.

If it's not a mare, and/or does not match either of the mares descriptions noted in the above link report, then at least Ellen can know whether or not her search continues. Please help, if you can, in this regard???

You are most welcome to contact me privately if you prefer. My email is: [email protected]

or you can call me at 407-436-2971.

Does ANYONE know how they CAN be contacted? Other than just an "email address"? Ellen does NOT have "immediate" computer access to be able to email, and I'm afraid for her that this supposed "legal time" frame will run out before she's able to make contact by email. If anyone has a PHONE NUMBER she can call, or that she can have the Sheriff call, PLEASE help with any info that I can give her to at least have a chance to know if this is one of her mares or not????

I can't believe her rescue greyhounds were stolen. This is horrible! I hope they catch who did.

I'm glad the found Mini will have a nice home if its rightful owners are not found.

Does that mean this horse is a mare and might be a match? I am saying a huge prayer that it is.

: Wouldn't that be a super fantastic miracle!! i hope so.

Chris, thanks for that. I don't doubt it is being cared for. The girl who orinally posted about the mini won't get back to me and won't give me any contact info other than HER email--not the people who have the mini. The way she has put things is really getting to me. She made it sounds very much like she doesn't want the real owner found. She did say that the mini appeared to have been well cared for when it was found--so surely SOMEone is missing this little horse!!

So what happened? Does anyone know? Was it one of her mares? I thought about it all night.

Hi,

So sorry, we've been out of town all day with our horses today. I've not had opportunity to touch base back with Ellen yet. Just getting in now after getting the horses all settled back in for the night. It's rather late now, almost 10pm, so will try to reach her tomorrow to see how things went? Will post back as soon as I'm able.

Has ANYone heard back from the email address I posted? I sent them a list of about 20 missing miniatures with their contact info and haven't heard a peep back...

According to a post on another board, the owner claimed the mini.
