First it is very unusal for Mitzy to go to the bathroom in her kennel. Well I got home from work today and I walked in the door, I knew somebody went. WEll MItzy had poop and pee everywhere in her kennel and on herself. She is has very very watery poop and it just runs right out of her.

Is there anything I can give her to help with it?

Poor Mitzy. You did mention she was in heat recently right? I have noticed that my female can be a little irregular during her heat, but I just thought it was her and I haven't asked the vet about it. Now, what I have done, and mind you I am no vet and I only have done this myself is one of two things. I have on occasion given pepto or cottage cheese. I just don't do the two together. I have been known to give my own dogs pepto and I break down the amount to their weight. Also, I have used cottage cheese (especially for puppies), and if I use that I am careful to only give a couple of spoon fulls at a time to my dogs as it will really bind them up if you give too much.

As always, call your vet and ask him/her for what you could give and the amounts. And if this continues for any length of time I would advise to take her in.

First, CALL YOUR VET. Only after his or her okay, if this were my dog I would give her some natural canned pumpkin to help stop the runs. Make sure she's getting plenty of water and I would add some human baby liquid electrolytes to it. I would also withold her kibble for at least 24 hours to allow her system to expell the bad and heal. After the fast I would give her up to three small portions of rice and boiled chicken with a dallop of natural, plain non-fat yogurt or cottage cheese throughout the day (morning, noon and night) IF her system can handle it. If she continued to have the runs for more than 72 hours (or 48 hours or less if she is failing) I would consider it an emergency situation and rush her to the vet immediately.

*I'd to add that I recently had a dog with the same symptoms you are describing and after 72 hours of cleaning up watery diarrhea mistakes and letting her out constantly to avoid more she was taken to the vet and diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). It cost me over $150. in tests and about $50. in medication to heal her. This may be what Mitzy has but it may also be something as simple as she ate something that she shouldn't have or a multitude of other possibilities.

Well by the amount of poop that was in the kennel, on my kitchen floor and anything surrounding the kennel, she can not have anything left in there. The vets wouldnt tell me anything other then they wanted to see her first. I wish my normal vet I use for hte horses was closer.............she maybe expensive but she is so much better and will tell you stuff over the phone.

So I called a breeder friend and asked her. I gave her some pepto, and she said to give it to her every four hours. SO she will get it again at bed time, and we will see how she poops in the morning, if need be she will get more then.

I have my mom comeing over twice tommorow to let them out and check on her.

She is acting every bit like herself and still lets Jack pull her around the house by her ears.

She drinks lots of water. They are normally cut off after 7 but will giver her some in her crate over night as well. The only reason they get cut off is more for Jack being he is still young.

She is out or at least I think out of heat now. The last time she has bled was last Sunday. I kinda thought that might be it to, as while in heat she was constipated off and on.

That said, she is due to get fixed Tuesday, but that will be canceled and made again in a few weeks. I wanna make sure she is good and healthy before she goes through it. I will be makeing a appointment to just have her checked out to make sure she is ok. For my peice of mind. She also needs her nails trimmed and I wont trim hers.

Must say thou..... there will be no sleeping in my bed tonight! I am also hopeing that part of it was from her being worked up. Some of the poop in her kennel was her normal then there were some that were a little lose but not runny then when I took her out when I got home it was really runny. But she was worked up about being in the kennel. There was no clean place for her to lay and she does not like any poop or pee in there.

I'm not a vet as you know, but if she were my girl, I'd give her some keopectate (sp?).

Mitzy is pretty much back to normal today. Her stool is a bit softer then normal but nothing to worry about.

Sure glad she is feeling better. :aktion033:
