For the past three days when ever I wake up my neck is stiff & extremely sore. It only takes about 10 minutes to turn into a full throbbing headache. Ibprofin(Spelling?) isnt cutting it? Any suggestions?

First -- is it injured? Are you sleeping in odd positions? etc.....the cause :bgrin

Then, I swear by Alleve (or it's generic at WM).....or try the slow release arthritis type meds. These will provide longer times between taking them, however, you must find the cause to cure.

Hey, Aspercreme helps me with sore/stiff muscle issues, also. Then there's heat....wet compresses or heating pad.

I would go to the DR.... please..... if it is a recuring thing it needs to get checked. Also I like those thermal heat wraps/patches.... they are very comforting.

Yes, see a Dr, it could be something simple or more, maybe a slight clot or swollen node. So , get it checked

There are times when the process of holding the head upright can cause as much strain on the neck muscles as the injury its self. A DR will give you a neck brace to supprt the head. It doesnt have to be an actual injury but can be cause by sleeping in a different waay. Or even on a different pillow.

I had something similar for years and years and years. Wake up with neck ache, soon its a head ache, if I bent over it felt like a sinus issue to though I wasnt sick, and if it got bad enough Id feel like I was going to throw up to. Had monthy appointments with the ciropractor (sp) which didnt do much to help.

Went to a health food store a few months back and mentioned it to the lady there.... turns out Im allergic to potatoes (Which I was eating some form of almost dailey) Aparently lots of people get headaches of all types from potatoes!

Also you might try, if your not getting enough water your body pulls water from your spine, bones and brain which causes terrible head aches. And if you drink a lot of pop you need to drink double the water because coke/pepsi sucks up water to. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I used to get awful neck aches sometimes would last for more than a week. My sister talked me into getting one of those Novafoam pillows from Costco that are shaped funny, kind of like a wave. I have not had a neck ache since. :aktion033: and this was about 8 months ago. I then bought one for my husband and my kids. It's worth the 30 bucks. :bgrin

I was a big skeptic most of my life, until my neck did just what yours is doing. I tried Massage Therapy, which was wonderful, but didn't cure my neck. My own personal belief is that western docs tend to do more damage than good to the spine, so that wasn't an option for me. So I reluctantly went to a Chiropractor. Not just a 'yank and crack' chiro, but one who had a special tool that could adjust without the violent hands-on stuff that many of them do. I was amazed at how well and how fast he got me right again. I went once or twice a week for a couple of years until he moved his office too far away. Turns out I was having a lot more problems than just my neck that I had just learned to live with. I never felt better than when I was having regular treatments. I'm now looking for a new one close by, as I'm starting to get that pretzel feeling again.

Whatever type of doctor you choose, don't put it off to long. Any injury around your spine can affect so many of your other organs and joints, and just your overall well-being.
