I'll start off with the older of the 2 fur-kids.
This is Sparta. I found her around our barn about a month and a half ago. She wasn't too old, so I knew I couldn't take her from her momma yet....but she was sooooo beautiful, that I was determined she was going to become a house cat!
I watched her for 2 weeks (I even had my Dad looking out for her!!!!!! I couldn't believe it)....then one day we had a pretty bad rain storm, and I couldn't find her afterwards. I gave up after a week of looking every day. Ten days after the last day I saw her, I'm at the horse barn riding, and my Mom drives in. She gets out of the car with something in her arms!!!! I knew immediately what it was! Dad had found her amongst the straw bales in our mow, and brought her to the house to see if it was indeed 'Pretty Kitty'. She has been in the house ever since...though we have to keep her separated from the corgis at the moment....she is just too tiny to turn loose with them yet. It took her a few days to figure out that we were 'good', but she is sooo super friendly now it isn't funny! My 8 & 6 year old nieces named her!
AND...introducing the newest corgi at Esrohollow!!!
This little (or rather large-380 grams) guy arrived in the middle of the night last night via cesarian section. I had Jane xrayed last Tues, and only one lonely puppy was there. But then began the week of worrying about whether she could whelp it naturally or not. I was concerned after seeing the xray, and my vet agreed to do a c-section when we knew the time was getting close, rather than risk a serious emergency. Well wouldn't you know...my vet was not on call this weekend, and was out of town....and Jane's temperature had dropped Saturday morning!!!! GREAT! My vet told me the on-call vet would do the section, not to worry. Except when I called the on-call vet Saturday evening to let him know that it probably wasn't going to be that night, he told me he had no intentions of doing a c-section (he also happened to be the vet that took Jane's xrays, as my regular vet was out on the road all day the day I had the appointment)!!!!
HUH?! Panic time again! Only place to go was the Emerg clinic....and I am very leery of vet emerg clinics. But by Sunday late afternoon, I was pretty sure she was starting into labour....contractions started a few hours later, and I called the emerg clinic to see what they thought. At 10:00 PM we headed for the emerg clinic....I filled them in on what the situation was, and they agreed to the c-section. They were very glad I brought her in when I did, because they said there was no way she would have delivered it naturally. They were very very good at that clinic! I was pleasantly surprised! Mom and I got home at around 4:20 this morning
These are the only pics I have of the little guy so far, but he and Jane are doing very well! And it just so happens that he is the colour I was hoping for!!!!!!
:yeah
I don't have any ideas on names yet....but I'm thinking it's gotta be something relating to something EXPENSIVE!!!
