Need dentist in central Oklahoma

Hi,

I need an equine dentist that has experience with minis. I recently bought a 2 and 3 year old both have some swelling along their nasal cavity. I thought at first it was a sinus infection but now I think it maybe an issue with teeth. I talked to my vet who does my big horses teeth and he's not comfortable with doing minis.

So I'm looking for a dentist in central Oklahoma I am willing to haul.

I think OSU may be a good place for dental work. I'm probably going to be taking some there.

'Tooth bumps' are not uncommon in miniatures, both top and bottom jaws. But, if they are severe, or interefere with eating, it does pay to have them looked at.

"Tooth bumps" are usually evidence of the ROOTS of the permanent teeth, and can sometimes indicate that the 'caps', or 'baby teeth', are not being 'shed'(coming loose and falling out) when and how they should naturally, which allows the permanent teeth to 'erupt' and begin to grow upward normally. Having these 'bumps' evident along the TOP of the face is less common than along the BOTTOM of the jaw, in my experience.

I had a 30" mare who showed the facial (upper)bumps early on; strict, close attention to tooth maintenance(checks every 6 mos.) showed that some of her 'caps' needed the vet's help in removal(I have a good equine 'tooth work' vet, thankfully), and she matured with a good mouth that needs only 'normal' maintenance. It is sometimes very important to have the teeth of minis attended to at a much earlier age than many people would traditionally think necessary. You are correct in seeking a good equine dental specialist right now.
