So, I've been breeding minis for...well a number of years now, and I still don't have a farm name. Now that I have the dog thing going on...I REALLLLYYY want to get a name that will work for the horses as well as if I start to raise dogs (which is quite a few years off, but I want something ready).

The name of my business is Flat Creek Saddlery....because Flat Creek runs through one of our farms (yeah, real original eh?)....I definately don't want to use 'Flat Creek' for the animals.

I am very interested in something Gaelic, Scottish, Welsh....something like that since I have alot of Scot in my background and well the doggies are welsh corgis after all!!

I was trying to get something to tie into the horses as well as the dogs....but I think it was just getting toooo complicated.

Anyways, here are some things to play with....I live in Blanshard Township, near a ghost town called Anderson, as well as near St.Marys which is dubbed 'The Stonetown' (and also a smaller village called Kirkton).

My Mom came up with Esroh Hollow...which I like...but I don't think of it as a 'hollow' here....so it's kinda turned me off it. Esroh Glen??? I don't know...I really like it, but it's the last part that I can't get to 'fit'. (ESROH is what my licence plate is.....read it backwards and you'll figure out what it says).

Any suggestions would be great....I've been trying to brainstorm for the past couple of months but I keep getting stuck and nothing I really like comes out of it!

Thanks,

~kathryn

One thing you might want to keep in mind, you might move someday and if you choose a "local" type name that fits your particular place now, it might seem funny to use it elsewhere. Now if I was just naming my farm and not breeding, I'd choose something more suited to that location. But if I'm breeding, I would want to consider that I might move someday, but will still need/want to keep the name. Does that make sense? LOL!

Remember too, that if you do get into dogs, the AKC only allows you 25 letters for your names...so you don't want to choose a kennel name that takes up half your letters. ;-)

But if you find a farm name you really like, go for it...you can always choose a different kennel name later. We chose a different farm name than what we have for a kennel name.
