Hello all,

We have gotten a new (used) horse trailer and are wanting to convert this one for the minis. I will need room for my wagon and 2 show carts. Any ideas would be great! I don't even know really how big to make the stalls. So please pass me some ideas. Here are the measurments I have to work with.

Trailer

20 Ft Long

5' 9 1/2" wide

6' 5 1/2 tall

Wagon

6' 5 6/8 long

3' 10" high

cart

3' 4" wide

7' 3" long

2' 9" tall

The other cart is just a little big shorter in length.

I would like to hear everyone's ideas!

Years ago we hauled two carts above the heads of our mini's. Just took some chain & ran it through pieces of water hose to keep the shafts from being rubbed by the chain. Get the length you need & hook to the ceiling ( making a loop ) to put the shafts through. Put another hook & chain on the end of the cart to hold it. Of course you will need two people to load & unload.

Only way I see you hauling wagons and horses is to haul the wagons on top. I wouldn't be comfortable hauling them over the minis, plus you don't have enough headroom.

I have a 16' box trailer, and I have 5 18" wide stalls, and one that is ~ 36". The big one I use for tack (it's in the front). I have the stalls sideways, with swing gates and a trough with canvas in front of them. The trough lends support to the gates.

I have plastic stall gates that look nice and work well. They swing both ways. I also have small wooden gates that separate each horse in the trough area that also swing.

Ruffian, Do you have pictures that you could post for us to see. I'm also thinking of a new trailer or my daughter is. I have a trailer and my daughter has been using it this year and for next year one of us will have to get a new one. Looking for ideas.

When I took driving lessons, my instructor had her cart attached to the back of the trailer. She would push the cart up to the trailer door(raised), with the bottom of the cart facing the trailer door, latch it around where the tires meet on the cart. It then got latched at the top. There is no easy way to explain it. I wish I had a photo, but I dont. Sorry. It worked great. Also it was horse size, not mini. Hope this helps.
