I agree that we don't always hear about the threats (and don't need to) but I would certainly hope that when arrests are made and plots uncovered that the media would tell us about them.

Well if that is true and we are going to go there, then I suppose we should ban all video games that are know to promote violence...all movies/songs/books.etc...because those that use them/read/watch could all turn into evil people???

I think it's ridiculous to insuate that the attempt at Obama's life is fueled by emails, as I said before, these type of people are just ignorant, racist idiots...nothing more.

Spend some time watching the conspiracy theory videos on YouTube and you'll see that quite a number of unstable idiots put a lot of stock in what they see and hear. Viral Emails may not be THE reason, and people do need to take responsibility for forming intelligent opinions, but I would not discount the likelyhood that many see such media as "proof" that their convictions are correct. To be perfectly clear, I did not say anything about inhibiting our freedom of speech, but a little common sense and fact checking goes a long ways before pushing "Send."

People often try to find "reasons" for their ill behavior, point is, everyone is responsible for making their own decisions and being responsible for their actions. I for one would like to keep my freedom of speech and I'm shocked that some would not.

Actually people have posted links to video's on LB that would certainly IMO help to "set off" someone who is looking for trouble anyway. The first one that comes to mind is the one of the boys dressed in camo and combat boots chanting about the benefits Obama was going to bring them. I guess we should all be careful about the information we share.

As far as freedom of speech is concerned there are plenty of posts right here that would certainly indicate that some of us would like to take that right away from others.

One more thing......for (how many) weeks now we've all agreed over and over that everyone has a right to their own opinion. But we're STILL belittling one another for it. It's a good example of do as I say....not as I do. "Oh, you have an opinion?; sure let's hear it; just don't be surprised when I jump all over you because I don't agree with it."
