I QUIT! With no notice. Now....just so you understand I'm not a total hot-head, I have worked for a previous employer for 35 years, and my present employer for 5 years. But my daughter was soooooo right - that job was sucking the life out of me, and after yet another instance of gross rediculousness on the part of a person who loved to abuse the title of "boss" - I submitted an email that simply said "Resignation - effective immediately." And walked out the door. Feels like a million pounds have been lifted!

Good for you, life is too short to have

people keeping you down.

LOL I have done that once in my life and you are right the feeling of freedom is immediate and wonderful

I can totally relate to this Jean and I am not the type of person to just quit but some people don't deserve a notice or an explanation.

This happened almost 20 years ago and that woman still haunts me.

I never quit without notice, but years ago the bank I was a mortgage loan officer at decided to restructure the staffing and offered everyone a severance package. The idea was they'd see who was "happy" to leave and then see if they needed to do lay offs. At first, I was scared to death, but realistically, I wouldn't have been one let go. I was the youngest loan officer and I was also doing my two prior jobs for the bank... all for one (small) salary! I got to thinking how much they expected of me and how the more I did, the more they took it for granted. About my tiny pay check... SO, I took them up on the severance package, studied for just a couple of weeks to get my Securities (stock broker's) license, then my life / annuity license and the rest is history. The funniest thing of all is the Bank's wealth management department has contacted me a few times over the years to see if they can manage my money for me! Ha-ha. They don't realize, I guess, that I'm a competitor in that department.

Anyway, good for you! I hope you'll continue to be as happy with the choice as I have been. It's been 15 years but I still remember how it felt to wake up each morning and think "thank God I don't have to go into the bank today!".

Congratulations

I've never given notice for a job without at least a 2 week notice, but have to admit that there's been a couple jobs I've had that I felt that wonderful RELEASE.....So, yes. I understand.

I've had ONE job where I worked for someone else that I actually ENJOYED and interestingly was being paid a pittance!

Since then, both Larry and I have been self employed in a couple of businesses and because of that, it will be really rough being happy working a regular job with a "boss".

Certain things are just so freeing. I'm glad you aren't letting the job shorten your lifespan any longer!
