Hey yall. My search for a dog has ended. I found a sweet dog, I am naming Emma. I dont know much about her, a girl found her last week along a busy hi way. She is about 15 lbs, maybe a year old, hyper, active, shy and very happy to have a good home.

She looks to me to be a border collie mix, with more B.C. than mix. But I didnt know if B.C. can come in such small packages.

I question those of you who know the breed if she is a border collie, and if so, what is the best way to go about daily life with her.

I hope the photos come out...

Congratulations! You're going to need to give her a job, or she'll find something to do that you probably won't approve of. Sign up for basic obedience classes ASAP, with plans to get into something more advanced like Agility after graduation.

That sounds awfully tiny for a BC - can't wait to see pics.

I have a purebred male and a half BC, half Golden Retriever that was a rescue. Both are great dogs, but good grief, I have had half bred BC's in the past, but dont know if I will have another purebred. They MUST have a job, but are VERY smart- too smart, and very quick with lots of stamina. A friend of mine trains and shows agility and she finally broke down last year when her old dogs passed away, and got a BC. She had always wanted one.

Poor thing, I bet it is glad it was rescued!

I have seen one very small BC but that is the only one I've ever seen. Our three vary from 45 to 55 pounds

Here are our three

Belle ~ 8 years old

I especially love Teague! Wow is he pretty, sorry Teague handsome. I too have a purebred and dont' think I will get another. I love him to pieces but he has to have a job or he goes insane. He goes to work with me and that keeps him some busy. He has been a challenge since he was a puppy. He is awesome , but we worked for it.

The red and white border in my Avatar is a very small BC. She weighs about 17 kilos and HER jobs include:

Protecting foals for the first few weeks - then it's Mum's job

Barking at all the possums up the trees

Keeping the sheep (during Summer when we run them) in line

"rounding up the horses" when I'm working them in the round pen!

We used to do agility but she crashed off a jump and badly hurt a shoulder

Wonderful breed!
