Ok, I have just bought 4 minis, and am now interested in showing 2 or 3 of them. I have shown 2x before, but have never had to worry about conditioning or controling there nutrition. One is a 2 yr old stallion, one is a month old colt, and the other is a 5 yr old mare. I feed them 2x a day with Strategy, about 1 cup both times, except for the foal, he has a creep feeder. What else can I do for them. The mares and foal are on grass, and the stallion gets one flake alf. a day.

IMO one cup of feed is not enough for any horse

Is the 5 yr old mare have the foal nursing on her?? If so you really cant condition her until the foal is weaned. What are the sizes of the horses?? Keep in mind there is so set feeding program for horses. every horse has to be looked at and fed indivially based on size, condition, amount of work etc.

Our show horses only get grass at the end of each show season until the start up of the next show season.. During show season they get hay & soaked beet pulp, are conditioned to get in show shape & the grain is increased depending upon each horses needs...... You need to also provide salt & mineral blocks.

I was just following what they were being fed before. The first show is mid Nov. so when do I start working them.

The 5 yr old one is not the mare of the foal.

They are all under 31"

They also have mineral and salt blocks.

I will try to get photos up.
