Anybody watch North&South in May on Encore Western channel?I LOVED it.Patrick Swayze is 1 of stars. Made from novel by John Jakes.Continues in June.I loved it so much I got the books for my Kindle.Stopped reading when I got to the point where movie ended in May.I love US history novels especially Civil War and southern and northern conflicts of ideals.Have to read some of his other works including Kent Family Chronicles.Problem is I don't want to stop reading and do other stuff.

I watched this back when I was a lot younger!!! That was when I fell in love with Patrick Swayze!!! The only reason I started watching it was there were horses on it! LOL
I have all 3 on DVD!

I don't think I ever saw it before,but I am looking forward to seeing the rest of it.It is on Mon June 10,Tu June 11,and Wed June 12 8-11;15 all 3 nights.I may just have to miss Jeff Foxworthy and the baking show to watch it. I loved Patrick Swayze.He used to show Arabs and my neices showed with him 1 year at the National Arabian show when they were very young and had golf carts races with him at the show grounds.Small world.

I watched it too many, many, many years ago!!! It was really good! I was trying to remember who else was in it and was thinking that Jeanie Francis from General Hospital also starred in it.......back when I had young children I would watch General Hospital while they took naps!! N & S was on back then too!! Many years gone by, I have grandchildren now YIKES!!!!!! Lol

Yes Genie Francis is 1 of the main characters from the southern family. Leslie Ann Downe(most recently of Bold&Beautiful is Patrick Swayse's love interest.1 of the Carridine brothers is a southern villan Johnnie Cash is John Brown, Kirstie Alley is northern CRAZY anti slavery nut.Robert Mitchum is in it, but haven't seen him yet or Elizabeth Taylor or Linda Evans. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

Ohhhhh.....anything with Patrick Swayze in it is worth missing other shows, dinner, or just about anything else! He was a role model both in the way he lived, and the way he died.

Civil War movies as well as Civil War history is so poignant. When I lived in NW Arkansas I would go to battle re-enactments at Prairie Grove and to the museum at Pea Ridge. Also spent a lot of time in the library in Fayetteville pulling up letters that the locals wrote during that era. I hope some day to be playing a role in the re-enactments.

Last week I watched Mon Tu&Wed from 8-11:15 until it was finished.Now I am reading the rest of the books.Great story and lots of interesting history.It looks very exciting to have lived in Civil War times in the south, but I am sure it wasn't especially when the war was all around you.
