I have ALWAYS had LOW Blood Pressure...3 weeks ago I woke up feeling very strange...long story short...finally passed out...woke up had my husband take me to the emergency room. They took my blood pressure...left arm 139/97...very high for me...took it then from my right arm and it was 216/186.....another long story short...they finally found out the problem was a 99.99% blocked clavical artery in my chest......had a stent put in Wednesday and am doing fine now....I asked my regular Dr. of 20 years if he did pressure checks of both arms ever...he stated NO only the left arm.....My Dr. was in shock as I have always been healthy.. as like I said I have had low blood pressure forever......So please...I was so close to not being around anymore that I wanted to give you a heads up...when you see your Dr. please have him do BOTH arms it could save your life...

I was not sick...felt fine....I would have just died or had a stoke when this artery completely closed.

Oh No, how scarey for u!!! So glad u got to the doctors when u did. Never heard of a doctor checking both arms blood pressure, very interesting, thanks for sharing. Now take good care of yourself, Jennifer

OH good Lord thank God you got to the hospital.

I hope you are not in a lot of pain, and I am so sorry that this happened to you, but atleast know you know your situtation and you can be medicated for it. Please be careful and take care of yourself. What a scary thing to have happen.

I've got high blood pressure so for those of you out there that don't have boys, have daughters.

OH and my doctor takes blood pressure in both arms, sitting, standing and laying down.

One thing I want to make clear is....on my left arm...my Blood Pressure usually ran 117/72 down to 95/68 I have never been 120/80 which seems to be the prefered number....It was low on my left arm as that is the side that the artery was blocked. For 2 weeks I took it on the right arm and after I knew what was wrong...it stayed..(with medication) 170/107...160/96 until I had the stent put it...Now it is running 130/74...which he feels will improve in time. Each arm will be different at times...but not like the difference mine had..I just wanted to let people know they need to have this checked (both arms) as high blood pressure is usually a silent killer....I will be 60 the 1st. of January and have Never been on any kind of meds....have no idea how long it has been this way....Vascular Dr. feels it has been like this for many years to have had this bad of a blockage...

Thank you for the good wishes...I am going to be fine...I have way to much left to do...lol

What an amazing story, and thanks for the heads up to others. The Lord was not ready to take yo home. Do have a blessed Christmas.

Barb

after my surgery it wouldn't come up over about 85-90/50-60 the nurse kept checking and having this worried look on her face I finally said what is it and she told me......I told her that was pretty normal for me especially since I hadn't eaten or walked around

nor had I had my coffee or a cig

can be embarrassing.........

Very glad to hear you are OK and it was caught in time. Your post is a great heads-up. I don't know how common it is but I have heard of another person experiencing something very similar.

It happened to one of my friend's husband. He was an avid body builder and one day while working out he happened to notice that his veins had not extended out on one side of his body. If you've ever watched someone work out the veins get enormous and really pop out. He was working out and could see the change in the mirror of the gym. He didn't feel the least bit bad but thought it weird enough to mention to one of the trainers who immediately called 911. It was a very similar blockage and had he just poo-poo it like most men do he'd probably be dead today. He was only 23 when it was discovered so it can happen to anyone, any age.

Glad to here Angie that you are alright. Thanks for the information since I have high blood pressure I will have them check both arms.

I am bringing this post up to the first page one more time. I am not looking for any replies....I just want to make sure as many people see this as possible. If what has happened to me helps 1 person...all of this will have been worth while...especially for women...as we are really never taken seriously in the medical field...and this is such a strange thing...most people never think about it....my Dr. didn't.....especially those of us with low blood pressure....we think we are wonderfully healthy...lol The Vascular Dr. told me this is NOT an uncommon malady.......

Please pass this along it could maybe save someones life...

Thank You...Have a Very Merry Holiday!

Wow Angie, I am so glad you found that in time. Nothing I have heard of, I will make sure they at least vary the arms when they do check.

I am so glad you are ok, boy I sure do miss seeing you!
