I used to use human exercise balls but those always popped in a week or so.

Jill on the forum suggested I try an Equi-Spirit Horse Ball and I have been AMAZED by how durable they are!!

After two years of very rough play the replaceable fabric cover is ripping but the ball itself is still going strong and only now needs a little air. Turbo doesn't seem to mind that as it creates more slack in the cover for him to grab.

It's been rolled through deep mud, brambles, up hill, down dale, into and out of the stalls and through fences. It's been laid on, tripped over, picked up, carried off, stomped on, dribbled, flung, bucked at, rolled around, fought over and generally abused and is still going.

It's a little pricey but I'd already spent over half that replacing the two exercise balls Kody had popped in two weeks so for me it was a good value. It kept him busy and happy during his surgery recoveries and lets both Turbo and Kody work out all that aggression before they come around me so they aren't nearly so nasty if I don't get them out for awhile. I highly recommend!

Both horses ignored it when first presented so I did have to introduce them to the concept of pushing it around. It only took a moment once they gave it that first shove though!

OK, I know this is supposed to be a fairly serious thread but honestly, I think that I am the biggest object of amusement to my horses.

The sight of me, dressed in clothes bought from a rummage sale, struggling through the mud that seems inescapable this winter, dragging nets of hay, buckets of feed and, the biggest laugh of all, fighting the hose pipe, in order to fill the water troughs (I swear that thing is alive!) seems to keep them amused for hours.

You know the phrase "it's enough to make a horse laugh"?

Well, mine can cover the amusement spectrum from "snigger" right through to "curl up and roll around on the floor".

Well, at least it isn't colic when I see a horse rolling, just me, falling over.....again!

. My daughter and I watched their videos for 30 minutes, laughing ourselves silly at the horses playing with them.

My stallions LOVE the jolly balls!!!! Bob will pick it up and chuck it over his stall door and make me throw it back to him, he also likes to toss it into his water bucket and make a nice icey mess. He has a new trick now too, the other day while cleaning stalls I hear this horrible rasping airy noise and I think Bob is having a seizure or something so I run over to his stall and look and he has his mouth so far onto the jolly ball that he can squeeze it like a dog's squeaky toy!!! He has also started squeaking it in his water bucket since it is now half full of ice but he still has a blast.

My mares personal favorite is tree branches. One was a favorite for itching their bellies it was a heavier peice that fell during a storm and it had a small branch that stuck straight up and was the perfect length to itch bellies, it was hillarious to watch! Also the now 2 yr old fillies loved to pick sticks up in their mouths and race around with them like a dog playing fetch!

They are also fascinated by toes and shoelaces!!!
