Odd email from PayPal?

I just got the weirdest email from [email protected]. It told me they had suspended my account and they could not process my recent purchase??? I haven't used my paypal in months and I am not verified, in other words I have no bank account information in there right now I just always used my credit card #. So I went and logged into my account and it says no activity? Anyone ever recieved a weird email like this before? Oh and to top it off it came to my email address which is jtdcharr and it should have gone to jtcjcm at another internet service provider entirely??? I did a reply to the letter and told them they sent it to the wrong person and address, I gave out no pertinant information.

We get e-mails like that all the time and just dump them. It's a scam - trying to get personal info from you.

I am used to getting the sort you are talking about and just dump them. I got a new one the other day. I came across as a receipt for an ebay purchase. Said I bought a ring for $380 plus shipping. The main difference between this notice and the real one is a link at the bottom that says "If you did not make this purchase, click here" Well, since I did not make the purchase, I was dumb enough to click. Once I did, the link said that they would fix the problem, I would just have to give them my debit card # plus my atm password. Since I only use direct withdrawal/deposit with my bankaccount on paypal. I immediately closed that window and went to www.paypal.com and signed in and checked my account. Of course there was no record of any transaction so I email paypal and they responded telling me that they would never ask for that information and to always go directly to paypal.com when something is in question and not to a link in emails. So be careful and never give out anything.
