Ok so we decided to stick with a fake tree this year, real next year. I dont know who is harder on the tree, the 1 year old cat or 5 month old Frumpy aka Bella.

The cat doesnt climb it but she does take flying leaps into it. She drags the lights off, the tinsel and the most of the decorations that she could reach were on the floor this moring.

Now, Frumpy on the other had. If i wanted to keep all the stuff away from her then I wouldnt beable to decorate the bottom half of the tree. When she is standing, she is 3 almost 4 rows high. When she jumps up she is even higher. And she can jump. Her newest fun thing to do is run across the couch and take a flying leap off the end of it. She has learned she can get to the toys faster then Mitzy can when we are playing fetch. Anyway, she hasnt taken anything off the tree yet. She just presses her nose into everything and has that look. The "im really in trouble if mom catches me doing this look". Thankfully she listens when I tell her no.

However we do have one more week left, and the tree has only been up one day. Thankfully the kittens in the basement will be out door cats! :DOH!

You might want to try squirting them with water.... works on my cat, sometimes LOL

my tree has taken a beating this year. the cats climb it then take things off it then the dogs eat said things...ugh...i have lost about 15 ornaments so far, i now have taken off any special ones before they end up in pieces

, i feel your pain...Nikki

What about fencing it with a dog gate or baby gate kind of thing?

Bummer about the tree, but Merry Christmas...

LOL Six dogs and NO tree here! We're keeping our presents on a display shelf in the kitchen.

Squirt guns usually work pretty good for cats. I only had to nail each of the three terrorists (12 week old kittens) a couple of times before they figured out that tree attacking was not a good idea!

Today the learned a new trick though - getting on the kitchen table. Harder to surprise attack them with the squirt gun there the way my house is laid out!

Too funny!!! I had all the puppies upstairs and they could get in around the Christmas tree....note I said *could*! Thankfully we didn't have ornaments on it....they found a small branch (this is a real tree btw) at the base, and had a grand old time tugging away on it!!!! Then they attacked the tree skirt (which is just really a vinyl table cloth so if we run the base over with water, it doesn't wreck the floor)...there is now a rather large hole in the tree skirt :DOH! No more playing around the tree. Puppies get locked out of that room until after Christmas now!!! LOL

!!! Our cats (older kittens) decided to do that for a few days now the tree is old news and the stuff on the table is much better to play with. My dogs have never messed with any of my trees even when they were puppies (one is 5 and the other 14). Water guns work really well on kitties or just a squirt bottle on hard stream. Good luck and I want to see a picture of your "flying Kitty"

LOL! And that's EXACTLY why I didn't put one up this year! We have 2 soon to be barn kitties in the house and they get into too much trouble trying to destroy my show ribbons!

The two barn kitties are in the basement, they stay down there. Trying to get bigger and adjust to the cold.

The cat left the tree alone all day after I took water to her, nothing on the floor this morning. But she was makeing alot of noise last night. She did wipe out one of the gingerbread houses the other day to. She knocked it off the counter then she layed in the mess.

Its now the dogs turn, she is trying to grab things off the tree, and did get one thing destroyed. Frumpy and Mitzy both have a favorite candy cane on the tree they keep licking on.

Well I put the cat back outside last night. Somebody was all worried she would freeze to death. Hello she has long hair and a barn with hay in it. I got up this morning and the cat was back in the house

When I go feed tonight, the cat is going to the barn with me.
