We have had deer coming to our backyard almost every night,.....and There has been this ENORMOUS buck,..and I have been trying for almost a month now to get a pic,..but,...you cant take pics through glass windows,(they dont turn out),...and everytime ,..I have tried to sneak out on the patio,..(the little beggers have heard me and made a break for it!!!),..lol

Anyway the other night I actually managed to sneak out on the patio with out making any wildlife nervous (yook me half an hour to go a total of 2 feet)

I set my camera to nighttime images,...(which makes it look like daytime),.....and I was sooooo very proud of my self!!!!!!

I used the entire memory card and came back inside (At which point they all took off),...and ran downstairs to upload my wonderful pics!!!!

Either I turned my cam to the wrong setting ,...or,.....I wasnt suppose to get beautiful pics of these guys!!!

Im sure the deer are laughing at me!!,..oh well ,..try ,try, again!!!!!

Because your porch rail was the closest thing, your camera focused on that. It's ok, they'll more than likely be back and you can try again.

for night shots you need a longer shutter speed and a steady place to set your camera without bumping it or it moving.

Maybe if you set up your camera on a tripod ahead of time, before the deer usually arrive, and at the settings you want? That way half your battle is taken care of......then all you have to do is SNEEK.

my digital camera does not have that feature, and i'm sure a flash would scare them away really fast

: . I don't what to tell you with getting better pics of them but try to get a tad closer next time, if your camera has a zoom use it. Congrats on getting the pics you did end up getting. juat try and try again :bgrin

My camera is only a Kodak easyshare,.....I dont have a tripod,....are they very expensive?

It is just a very basic camera,......I havent read the instruction book to it yet though.

I thought for sure that the flash would scare them off too,...but,....They never moved a muscle,...maybe they thought it was lightning or somthing.

I will try again,..it is just so hard to get out on the patio without spooking them.

Here in Canada they range from $15-$150 depending on brand, and if they are made of plasitc or metal, also the cheeper ones tend to be kind of small. I got mine as a gift it goes about 6 feet high, fits my digital and 35mm i think it was in the $70-$75 range. but look around you never know what you will find.

Appymom, at least you can SEE your pictures! :bgrin My farrier was over and he was in the house playing with my dog.. :bgrin .I took some pictures of him, and nothing. .OK, we'll try outside..we head outside and I take a few more pics ..NOTHING.. .well...HELLLLOOOOO--I forgot to take the dang lens cap off. :bgrin I have the Kodak easyshare too.
