In the Febuary Journal on pages 106-108 Examples of acceptable pictures.

Just redid mine today and had them develope at Wal-Mart 4x6 size of 4 pictures Total: $.76 here in Ontario.

My pictures came back from AMHR and was told had to be on photo paper and all four feet have to be showing....and proper size no bigger than 4x6 and not less than 3x5

Mine was on Photo Paper from my computer, and was only 3x3 taking out scenery...but not all 4 feet where showing, she was square and not showing all feet....

Just trying to help others, so you will not have to redue ( I hope )

Here are mine now, hope they are OK

Cannot wait to get her shaved down and see what I really bought...

Just curious, how long did it take AMHR to send back the pictures they didn't like? I sent in a transfer in mid-January, and I don't have anything back yet.

Thanks.

I sent mine in Post marked January 5th and just got mine back end of February...

Oh thank you barnbum, never thought of that, you are right I usually do pull back the forelock..

Just a question?, when taking both sides of horse their feet do show for each side, why are they not to be squared, Problem with that?

I guess if their is marks inside the legs? I don't think AMHA minds them square?

Reble, I believe AMHR wants to be able to see any markings or color varations on the legs...that is why they don't want the horse squared up.

I must say....the picture examples in the February Journal are very helpful and I hope everyone can get a copy to see it or look at a friends copy. I encourage everyone to share the info and spread the word...it makes the registration process much easier for everyone if they can see examples of what is expected.

I was under the impression that the front shots are to be full frontal like PtHA requires. The top of the head down to and including the feet?

Oh Great Becky, I just do not know how to read, and I am so use to AMHA, will I ever get this right...

Becky, that is what the acceptable example picture #6 on page 108 shows .

The paragraph quoted below the picture #6 reads as such in the February 2007 Journal.

"All photos should include all parts of the animal available in that view(ear to hooves or nose to tail inclusive) and be unobstructed by any other animals, riders, shrubs or fences in the foreground.''

Do not stand your horse/pony in tall grass, especially if he has white markings on the lower legs. All four legs must be seen from both sides. If your horse/pony has white face markings, make sure the forelock is pulled to the side and the face can be seen in at least one of the full side shots and, of course, the full frontal view. Photos taken from a great distance are usually not acceptable. For example, you cannot take an acceptable photo of a horse that is running loose in a pasture.

It goes on with more info but I am too lazy to type it all out.

: They did put some advice in about appy/pinto markings on page 107 and what they expect. Mostly they want them clean so the dark and light markings are easily seen.

We weren't sure about the frontal picture so I retook one today showing hooves to tip of ears..... Also had to retake one full pic as the horses head was not turned toward the camera (has to be in one picture).............. We sent this filly's paperwork to AMHR in November. BUT we got them back saying we needed to send pictures. How were we to know they would not get to them in 06?

Here is her frontal. but cannot clean her winter coat in this cold weather.

I just wish AMHA & AMHR did not want different photos.

AMHA wants face, now AMHR wants frontal.

Would of been nice to make photos the same.

I can see she sures needs the farrier out, but with this weather he has not been able to make it out...Hope sometime this week...

When they go permanent, I will worry about perfect pics..

Reble, I would say that last frontal pic would be just fine.

just a reminder you cannot have any other horse in the back ground or even a piece of another horse

we got our picture rejected for that also

Oh that is good to know.. This topic is just to help others, so they can get it right the first time.

Not like me and have to do it again and again :bgrin

We all know change is not always easy.

Just curious, if anyone has gotten theres back yet how long does it take to get them if the pictures are correct? Has this added to an even lengthier process?

We sent in an ASPC transfer (with pictures) the third week in January and haven't heard anything one way or the other. Sending another transfer in this week...

I think everyone has to remember that this is a new process to all and I have heard the computer system has been acting up a bit which is making papers take a bit longer to get returned. Iknow most of us are used to pretty quick turn around with AMHR but again just be patient I am sure they will get the kinks worked out pretty quick.

:new_shocked: WHAT?! Well now isn't THAT just crazy!!! Obviously, a horse far off in the background or the mare behind a foal is not the photo subject and it would be obviously so!

Ours was the foals dam standing in the background

and we had to take new ones, it was obvious she was in the picture

but we never thought of it when we took the pic

and they told me there cannot be any horse in the picture not even in the far background

You know I read and reread the article on how they want the pictures and maybe I missed it I could of but I never saw anything about anyone in the picture just nothing obstructing the horse in the picture.

NOT a happy camper here! The office has had a transfer and a hardship since January 12! Yesterday here it all is back in the mail! My check was cashed, but not a word about my pictures not being suitable! Now they send it ALL BACK! (except the money) And want 3x5 or 4x6 pictures! My camera doesn't MAKE 3x5 or 4x6! It makes SQUARE pictures for pete's sake! This is getting ridiculous.

I do think they need to revisit the requirements of the pictures. I'm thrilled to see pictures finally on the papers, but the whole process doesn't appear to be well planned out. And NOT cash checks before doing the work! They've had my $275 or whatever it was for almost 2 months now and I have NOTHING!

I've looked at my pictures and to get 3 x 5 I'm going to have to leave in a lot of background so the horse is going to be LITTLE! That's not going to do much good! The picture requirement needs to be for a minimum and maximum size not for an EXACT size! The letter says "no smaller than 3x5 or no larger than 4x6" Well, I can give a 3x3, or a 4x4, or a 5x5 Now don't you think one of those should satisfy? I think they are going by film print sizes....it's time to move into the digital age!

Off to try again

Charlotte

p.s. so I have another question. what happens when I want to register my little unhalter broken foals this year? They sure as heck aren't going to stand up 'just so' with their mom far away and no person's leg or hand in the picture. Like I said, there needs to be some rethinking done on the requirements.
