Old Kitties

Just last night I realized that my cat Kingston is 15! He was a kitten when he walked into our yard. My parents had no choice but to let me keep him because I told them that I had been praying for a kitten and God was answering my prayers.

Here he is a few years ago he's in great shape for his age and I'm hoping he hangs on for several more years! He's the black and white, the other is my beloved Pollie and Kingston's wife, who passed away 2 years ago this March.

I don't have a picture on my computer, but my mom's cat, Scooter was about 17 when he had to be humanely euthanized last year. He was black and white, long-hair and looked much like your Kingston.

I don't have a pic either, but my dad's cat lived to be 20 then he died in his sleep. He was going to be put down the day after. It's like he knew.

Here's a view of my 8 year old's messy bed, strewn with books and two of our kitties.

The calico infront is our 15 year old, "Splinter". The one in back is our Humane Society kitty (age 5)...a Maine Coon. Splinter is amazing for her age. She has her name because she has never learned how to retract her claws.

We also have 14 and 13 year old kitties, but "Splinter" is the youngest in mind. The other two stay indoors almost 27/7 and insist on their nap time.

Here is my old man (if you consider 11 old)... I used to work for a vet and he came in and was left after being hit by a car... He has nerve damage in his tail (half his tail is limp...which is really cute when he's running) and he is VERY vocal.... he is the most wonderful cat I've ever had....

Here is my Sandy, who is 19 years old(at best count):

I have been her servant since she was 10, I think. I REALLY miss her, since I'm in the dorms. And apparently she misses me too--sits and yowls at about 2:30 am if someone isn't there(ie: me), or so my mom tells me. Fortunately she seems to be settling in. Sandy is deaf, partially blind, and had some sort of seizure/stroke about 1 1/2 years ago that caused some coordinate issues. But she still here with us and is very much alive and liking life.

Here's my kitty Cartoon

. She wandered into our house as a mature cat when I was 6, and I got to name her. She has such an attitude and was such a character that my brother (7 at the time) and I decided Cartoon would be just right. She was declawed, spayed, and would ask to go out like a dog so no litter box

Awww they are all so adorable! Horsefeathers you reminded me of something that happened to Kingston a few years ago. The litter box was next to the back door and he was in there "doing his business" when someone slammed the door closed. Unfortunately his tail got shut in the door and a piece of it fell off!

Our oldest cat is only 6.

However, when I was a kid, we took in a sweet little black kitten that my father named "Donald" (named him after himself!). Donald turned from a sweet kitten to a grumpy, mean, fat cat.

Donald was SO fat that the fur rubbed off his belly. He looked like a sumo (sp?) wrestler and was also the filthiest cat I have ever known. If he walked through a spider web, he could easily wear that cobweb on his face for a couple of days before it wore off. Just not the typical cat.

You'd think something as obese as Donald the cat would not live long, but he did. He was 22 years old when he fell asleep for the last time in the yard.
