Yesterday while at a cookout at my moms, my home was broken in to. I came home and knew there was a problem right away, and backed out of the house.

Lost an aweful lot.

They cleaned off my dresser, on it was Phantoms award, plate, for Reserve Champion in the Gelding class last year at Nationals.

Does anyone know, will AMHR replace it? I realize I may have to pay. I can send the police report as I understand they just can't sell them. Have you ever heard of it, do you know?

Thanks so very much for your help.

OMG Carolyn ... i do not know what to say but i am SO sorry

how terrible!! I know its just a silver plate but mine mean so much to me too. I hope they will replace it.

Thanks ladies so very very much,,,,haven't been to sleep yet. Just so hard knowing how much they went through my bedroom.

What do you think,,,just call the office? Ask for whom? Or just explain and see who I get. Like I said, I understand not giving them, selling them to anyone, my hope is the police report will some how make a difference.

Yes, they do mean a lot, my first Reserve National Champion.

Thanks again

Oh, I'm SO terribly sorry for your loss--I'll keep my fingers crossed that your trophy somehow finds it's way back to you! I think it's so sad what people can do. Do you have a picture of it? Perhaps you could put an ad in the Courier-Times and take the picture around to local pawn shops, auctions and antique stores. They stole it for a reason, and it was probably to try to get some money from it. In fact, since I live in the same area as you & have the next 2 days off, I would be happy to do some footwork & asking around for you. If you would like my help, please e-mail me at [email protected] with a description of the plate. I would love to help out!

Geez....like you haven't had enough to deal with!

Carolyn.. I'm so sorry this happened. I know how it is to realize someone has been going thru your personal items. Hopefully, you can get a replacement or in the best circumstance get the origional back.

I'm really sorry to hear you were robbed. My home was too a few years ago and I had a terrible feeling of personal invasion for a long time afterward. They stole Mom's jewelry that I got when she passed away...all of it. Most of was more sentimental value than anything but when something you value is stolen it's hard to deal with. Do go to the local pawn shops just in case. I did it.....but it didn't help. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

OMG Carolyn! That's scary and horrid! I hope AMHR helps you replace Phantom's award!

Oh Sweetie.......I am so sorry. You must be feeling very violated........Been there.........

I'm not sure if the registries would replace things.......often the awards are paid for by donations.

Be sure to put the word out. Your awards may turn up because the idiots who robbed you won't see the value in the plaques and may dump them somewhere......perhaps even at the DUMP!

We don't believe they wanted all on my dresser, it was all taken off in one swoop, for time reasons probably. The plate was just there.

Thanks for the offer to help. Many friends/family have the list of things and checked yesterday and will again today. We hope a few odd pieces will be what helps to catch them.

Thanks Lisa for the info. I will be calling. I do believe this award may be one of the easiest to replace, and other things can't be replaced at all.

Oh my gosh, Carolyn!!! I am so sorry!!!

Please let us know what AMHR says.

I know they are "just" ribbons, trophies and platters, but I know how much mine mean to me. I know I'd cry if something happened to mine... but I also feel like AMHR will be able to tell you how you can get replacements!

Oh Carolyn - gosh first your bag with your camera, now your house. I'm so sorry. I hope you can get your award replaced and have some better luck soon.

Oh, what a shame! I hope they can help, this is probably a good time to contact them, it would be cheaper for you if it can be ordered along with their big national order. You will probably need to work through AMHR with the trophy company as they won't just let people order single trophies unless they are sure they had won them.

I remember when my cockatoo let herself out and turned my AMHA top ten ribbon into confetti. I was so upset, called AMHA and they helped me get it replaced (they had to vouch for me at the ribbon company that I did earn that ribbon). I had to pay for it, but it was worth it.

Man that is horrible, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. UGH!

Word to the wise - rural areas are an increasing target right now for theft-- its been huge in my area. Sheriff depts. can't respond fast enough in rural areas.

When we first moved to the farm we live on now we had our barn cleaned out by thieves. I felt creepy walking into my barn for the longest time afterwards - I can't imagine how you feel in your own bedroom!!!

I was only gone to town for about an hour and a half. The police told me that someone with a cell phone will follow you in a car while a couple in a van go to your house/barn and clean you out. The person following you will call them when you are about to return and they clear out. The thieves operating here took the goods (tack and other equipment) to another province to sell them at auction. The sad part was that, because my insurance covered the articles, when they were recovered I was not entitled to have them back. My best and most favorite saddle was then sold at auction by the police.

I hope you can get your award replaced. They didn't just steal a plate - they stole your memories!
