Thats right my horses went on a cruise and are now in lovely Puerto Rico enjoying themselves. I tried to get to go along but nobody wanted to buy me, LOL. The whole thing was quite an experience. The buyers flew into Florida and only spent less than 2 days here. They spoke almost no English and I speak almost no Spanish. Thanks goodness I have good friends that speak Spanish. I gave Aldo the lost visitors cell phone # and he went out of his way to go find them and bring them here. He also spent about 8 or more hours walking around our pastures in the sweltering heat translating as we all talked horses. Even now he is still getting phone calls from the buyers wanting info etc that he can understand easily. Like I said Good Friends!!!
Anyway the buyers left and I had less than a week to get coggins and paperwork for the 1st group leaving, Yikes!!!! I called my wonderful vet Dr Miller (Im so happy I found him!) and he didnt even yell at me when I told him I needed 26 coggins and papers to get them into Puerto Rico right NOW. In fact he really helped me a lot. We did get everything done and we found our way to the port and the correct shipping line. We had to go through customs and they checked under our vehicles, Im guessing for bombs? The minis were the hit of the shipyard and lots of people came over with their camera phones and were taking pictures of them. We were not allowed on the ship but it was huge. We took 13 the 1st trip and then 13 more a week later and even more people came the 2nd time to meet the minis and ask about and photograph them. They were all so good about getting up into the shipping trailers but the smaller ones just got picked up and placed in the trailers. The guys working there were sure laughing about picking up horses with no problem.
Oh and since my older mini trailer only holds about 10 minis at the most I just HAD to buy a bigger trailer. We really did need a new trailer badly so we just bought one that could hold at least 13. We got a Corn Pro 16 ft stock trailer and I love it. Here is the new trailer already in use at the shipyard.
here are some of the weanlings to 4 year olds waiting to get onboard
This is a few of the adults waiting to get out at the port.
Jack our lovely leopard appy yearling is one that went
And they also bought Ranger our Gold Melody Boy bred palomino stallion in my avatar.
So we have less than 40 minis now and only a couple left for sale. Seems strange to walk around our place and only see a few horses in each pasture. But my checkbook is loving it when it comes to buying feed and hay!
