Over due mare

So I know shes not as over due as others but shes at 339 days today and she has been ready for a week now.

She's a maiden mare.Her udder is full but i cant get any milk. I noticed that other day that she kinda lost her belly. Its not as big as it was and its not Ving anymore. The other day he was moving so much by her flank/hip area. The last couple of days i havent seen much movement. Only seen her belly bump a once or twice. So with your guys experiance how much longer????

I dont think I can take anymore. I havent had a good nights sleep in over a week.

WOW!!! My maiden mare is the excact same way right now and I cant take it anymore either. I am DIEING to see this foal and it's driving me insane waiting for it to arrive. So I totally know where your coming from!

As of the 19th, she is a day over due too.

Worst part is I have no barn camera so long cold nights napping in the barn is starting to get old. I WILL HAVE BARN CAMERAS FOR NEXT YEARS FOALING SEASON!!!

I live an hr away from my parents and thats were I keep my minis. I have been driving home every night for the last week. We dont have a house were our barn is so I did get a camera system set up and been staying in our camper. Those are cold nights to. Well I hope your mare goes soon to. I also am looking foward to this foal.

I had a maiden mare last year that went THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE DAYS!!!!! I know that is accurate because I hand bred her for one cycle and that was it. The good news for you is that those bumps you saw her belly doing were likely the foal getting into position. Welcome to foaling - the sleep will come later

I have 3 I am waiting for. All under camera and alarms. I get to sleep inside, but with the 3 of them on alarms, they are setting them off all of the time. I am lucky if I can sleep for a hour straight.

One is now at 336 days, another at 328 days and the last at 330 days. All have large bags, red vulvas and very tacky fluid.

I need some sleep.

Welcome to foaling season! I had to move two mares around last week. One was in the 320 and the other in the 330's, because the 320 one looked like she would go first. Now I just moved out the two newborns and have all four of the next group on cameras.

Guess they are not looking at the calendar like we are.....

My maiden finally foaled this weekend at 352 days (a filly)

Last year, a maiden went 364, the longest we've had was 372!

I have 2 that are at the 320-330 mark right now.

Our little maiden mare who foaled on the 16th of April had a fairly full udder but I could not get a drop of milk the nite before she foaled.

There was lots after foaling at 4:16 a.m.

I am waiting on a maiden mare at 330 days today. Big bag, real loose vulva, red inside, tail feel like a rope just hanging.

. Last year I had a maiden go 387 days

and I know that is right because she was only bred 1 day and wasn't near a stallion again for months. I pray I don't have that this year as well. OH!

HEHE!!... I am glad that's our maiden mare is over... whew!!..

She had her filly at 346 days and I haven't get good sleep for 3 weeks!!...

I kept check on her 3-7 time a day and watch for signs..

That evening when she had her filly, I gave her some grain and I peeked and SAW wax and I knew that she is going to foal that evening because her poop was mushy... When she got done eating her grain and she did show using bathroom few time and all sudden she was laying down and start pushing.... I sneak quietly and watch and saw the foal's front hooves and head and I went in with her and help her and now it is all over with but I have another maiden mare is due on July 1st... hehe!.. So I better catch up my sleep!.. hehe!!

I think the easy way is by looking inside vulva.

It sounds like your mare is very close I had an experienced mare go through those motions and had it within a day. Good Luck!! I have just one more left to pop! A maiden of course who's nearing 330 day mark and looks like she's going to hold it a long time OH! Oh well at least I can sleep for a few more days!! Happy Foaling everyone

I'm still watching two mares, one a maiden and one not, and they are at 349 and 350 days. NO milk with either of them.

The maiden mare that was 303 days got tired of all the drama and had hers out of turn, but then created a whole new set of drama of her own.

Now that I am feeding a foal every hour around the clock, I look fondly back at the days when I was "just" Mare Staring, lol!

Hi, I am in the same boat, 330 today, all the signs since 226, this afternoon she lay down, her body was twitching, heavy breathing, legs out straight, contracting, I thought here we go, 10 mins later she stood up and started eating! I know another sleepless night.... Good luck everyone! Heres hoping all healthy foals, colts and all!

Ah ha I knew it once the mare doesn't look "as" fat that means the baby turned and she will foal very soon!! Congrats!!
