Owl and Purple Martins

This owl has been bolted to the stand in the same spot by an exterior door of the facility where my husband works for many years. Obviously these young purple martins consider him one of the family. My husband took this photo Tuesday evening. Night shot with inferior camera.

I think they are Barn swallows.. I just love these birds!!!

I think you are right, Mary Lou. I thought the ones that nest under the eaves of our house were barn swallows, but they have no white on them.

Anyway, we thought it was a great picture of them sitting on Uncle Owl.

Neat picture. Sure look like juvenile barn swallows (our adults don't have any white either, but I"m pretty sure the young do). I get a close-up look at the adults everytime I fill the dogs swimming pool... I get dive bombed everytime.
