I was looking through a western catalog this morning and noticed that the Painted Pony people have a "paint your own painted pony" for sale. (I did check their web site and couldn't find it there.)

I know several people on the forum paint Breyer horses and several of us (me included) have asked for advice/pictures/and points of contact to get the materials to work with. I just thought if any of you are reading this thread that you may want to know about this one that's available and ready to be painted (to include paint, brushes and instructions). I know what's going to be at the top of my Christmas List.

Dear Santa..............

Ooohhhh interesting!!!!!! I'll have to check that out.

OH WOW Really??!!

I'll have to check their site again I didn't see that last time I was on there.

Do you have any more information like the catalog name etc?

I love the Trail of the Painted Ponies figurines.

I collect them, or rather Michael collects them for me. He knows the

ones that the stories on them make me go 'aaahhhh'.

He thinks it's the greatest thing as he always knows what to buy me for

special occassions.

I'd love to have ones painted tomatch my kids WOW

PS I just rechecked the Trail of the Painted Pony site and it is on there now.

It is $23.99 As of the listing time they were out of stock but were to get them back in the first week of December.......

Dear Santa, Please............

There are a lot of different western type stores that carry the TOPP paint your own model. I think TSC has them and some Carlton cards in the malls along with Hungates craft stores in the mall.

Breyer also has a paint your own kit every year. This years has been the miniature horse Midnight Tango mold. Another tip--Marshall's department stores have the Breyer Classics for $9.99 every day. I usually pay about $15 for them and just found this out last weekend. A little bit of sand paper to smooth the seems and remove the Breyer logo, a coat of Krylon white sandable primer and woo-buddy that horse gets a new paintjob! You can use oil paints, chalk pastels dusted on in layers (using Testors Dull Coat to seal every few layers), thinned down (to about skim milk consistency) acrylics or even colored pencils in very small strokes and layered like the pastels. There are many tutorials over the internet if you do a google search...I'll try to find time today to see if I can't find a few links. I just got a book called model horse tips and tecniques--it is fabulous and I highly reccomend it if you want to get into the customizing part of the model horse hubby.

The catalog I found them in is "Rod's"; page 4; $28.95.

If anybody finds something better, please post it for us.

I gotta get something like this.
