I still say smokey cream. The mothers dam is black, and therefore the mother carries at least one copy of black from her. The dilute on the mother probably came from her sire, knowing what he has historically produced.
The sire to this colt, carries a black gene also. ( I know this because I got a smokey black pinto filly out of him this year). Each has contributed a black gene and each has also contributed a dilute, and the foal , IN MY OPINION, is black based, with two copies of cr. I dont see any point colors to indicate perlino, but he is definately a double dilute.
Since I owned the mother, in my opinion she did NOT carry any champagne genetics. Since day one I have thought you got yourself a smokey cream, and a lovely one at that.
