Do you need them now? And if so any idea how long it takes?

Thanks

I don't know, waiting for someone who knows to answer!

You can get an enhanced drivers license, but that is only if you are a resident of "certain" border states. Michigan is one of those, although it will not work for travel by air, only by ground or sea. Enhanced license is much cheaper and quicker to get, however doesn't last as long as a passport.

There's a passport card you can get--is that the same as the drivers license version, or something different? Early last summer the cards were taking a couple weeks to come, though they would tell you 3 - 4 weeks when you made the application.

If you are only traveling into Mexico or Canada you can get a passport card. Make sure you have a certified copy of your birth certificate. A friend applied for the card just to cross into Mexico and sent the birth certificate. It wasn't a certified copy and it took her an extra 3 weeks after they sent the application back. My sister got her card in 2 weeks.

This card is not good for travel except to Mexico and Canada.

Also make sure that your birth certificate is in good shape. We had to send for new ones since they were worn in spots and scotch taped they would not except them for us to get out card to cross from Michigan to Canada

Thanks so much! I did find out that New Hampshire is one of the states where you can't get an enhanced license. Hope it doesn't take 2 months!
