I have a question-about pasturing a 4 year old stallion-very good boy and I also have 2 - 2year old colts, going to geld one and not sure about the other guy- anyways- I only have 2 fields and rotate the girls one day and the boys the next- one field is very large and the other is a large paddock- anyways- would you leave the boys together? I have seen someone leave many boys together and sometimes it would get 'rough' in there.Mine seem to get along with each other- just can't $ fencing to make another field and the tress are very sparse..........I don't turn the stallion out with the girls right now have 2 that I do not want breed and it's not the time of the year that I want to breed......

All you can do is give it a try.......Every stallion is different. If they have been used to being together in the past, you'll have better luck. Expect a tussle for pecking order at first, but if the tussle gets too serious be ready to step in and remove the offender! I'd also have a second person available incase you need to step in.

They have been together for 6 months-but, I did not know if as the colts got older if they would remain okay? Does anyone leave stallions together-I know to seperate if there's any sign of trouble, and when it's breeding time the older stallion is the only one allowed in with the 2 older girls-not the young girls.

If they get along why not, I have 3 together now, one is breeding and there is no problem when I put him back after breeding. They have there pecking order but all get along with each other, one is gelded.

I do have a 17 yr old stallion but he was never with anyone else except a mare over winter, I know he would not get along with the group so he is by himself.

Hope that helps, you just have to know your boys and if they get along with others or not.
