Also, I want to ask that if you had a horse get sick at Nationals with certain symptoms OR know someone who did/may have had a horse show these symptoms, would you please contact me with any info you may have?

Horses' age, exact symptoms, timeline of illness, rate of recovery or time of death, treatment plans, name(s) of Owner(s) and any other information would be very helpful. We are still trying to put together pieces of a very confusing puzzle about Phoebe's death and any help is much appreciated. PM's are FINE or E-mail [email protected]

She was treated w/various ABX and supportive therapies for every symptom manifesting at each point by a HIGHLY skilled equine specialist. Her necropsy was very inconclusive and the labs are not back yet.

Her exact symptoms-

Maybe Tuesday night, although we are not sure-increased respiration rate

Wednesday afternoon-pipestream diarrhea, increased respiration (1 dose of Immodium stopped the diarrhea within 4-6 hours)

Thursday morning-normal temp, increased respiration, decreased appetite

Thursday afternoon-temp of 102, very increased respiration

Friday 6:30 AM-diarrhea again, still rapid resp., normal temp. congestive sounds, no nasal discharge, no appetite

Friday 8:30 AM-crashed suddenly and dying, massive IV fluids revived her, back on her feet within 1 hour

Friday afternoon-severe difficulty breathing, no diarrhea, no breath sounds able to be heard due to roaring while breathing, was scoped, NO blockages in airway at all, was intubated, VERY little air movement, treated w/Lasix and continued supportive meds

Friday evening to 11 PM-progressive difficulty breathing, died under constant care at about 11 PM.

I sure can't help w/the symptoms but yes, she is beautiful!

Heartbreakingly beautiful and I'm sorry she didn't get to be here longer. My thoughts are with you who loved her so and gave her every chance to stay.

Oh Laura I'm so sorry to hear the loss of your filly. She was so beautiful

Emma is doing great here. So is Red just tired is all.

Laura, this is the first I have heard about the loss of your beautiful filly. My prayers and ((hugs)) go out to you and hope that you can find an answer to what happened.

God Bless.

She is so beautiful!!!!!! She looks a little bloated? You said she gained weight? I wonder if she has some kind of internal problem that wasn't apparent. I don't know. I am so very sorry you lost her.

I am sooo sorry to hear of your loss. My stallion was there too but is showing no signs of anything except missing his girlfriends at home and a little tired. My thoughts are with you. So Sad!!!

She's a very lovely girl..........Hope you find some answers -- just for your own sanity.

Her pictures are beautiful and I know bittersweet to have. I'm glad you have them to remember her by. I hope you find the cause of her death. I know it must be frustrating not to know. I'm so sorry you lost her.

Such a shame...Nationals was rough on us too. In fact 2006 in general has been.

Laura, she sure was a little beauty. I am so sorry to hear what happened to her. I hope you find the answers your looking for. It hurts so much when they just leave us so fast, but now she is free of any pains she might of had. Corinne

Hi Laura, sorry to hear about your pretty girl. Here's a couple of lousy pictures of our sweet baby, Charm. She had just placed Top Ten for the second year in a row in futurity.

The morning after this, she began to show signs of colic. We took her to the vet on-call for the show. (If we would have had our own trailer there, she would have gone to OSU and would probably still be with us.) That on-call vet was over-priced, and less than impressive. We put her down the following morning only a few hours before she would have competed in her Open class.

It always hurts to lose one and it always seems to be the pretty or sweet ones that go first. I really liked this filly. She was sweet as can be and I think she was kinda' cute too. So close to a life of just relaxing and making Redi babies...

So sorry for both of your losses - both beautiful mares lost before their time.

We had the vet out there also, on Sunday, ended up with two yearlings and my 4 year old gelding on Gastroguard but no further problems. I noticed his truck out a couple of other evenings, so sorry to know the cause.

Don't know if this will help at all but I had a stallion there that got sick and had to cancel his last two classes. My trainer/friend Connie Ballard had the vet out and he was put on IV fluids and had a whole lot of different things done for him. He is getting better and finally back to eating. If you think there might be some help to understand what happened, please contact Connie at Cherokee Stables in OH.

I am so sorry for your loss.

are both so beautiful. Laura that baby was stunning, just so heart breaking for both

of you. I do hope Laura you find the answers to why she died.

Please take care of you and the bean. By the way on the name, I like Gabriel.
