It has been an unbelievably hard month....my friends left on June 15th, and things have been quite lonely since then.

I'm still torn on what to do next, but I am trying to not make any huge decisions until things settle a bit.

A new boarder came into the barn a few weeks ago now, then the new barn owner went and ripped out all the dividing pasture fence lines to cut the fields for hay (ok, the fence wasn't in the best shape anyway, but that left NO grass pasture). It wasn't a huge, huge deal for me, as we have 2 sand paddocks for the horses anyway, the grass in the pastures was soo long that the horses wouldn't stay out in it, and I knew once the hay was off, we would get at least one pasture back until new fencing could be put up. But it was still very shocking to see....especially when there was no warning that he was doing it.

I've talked to my friends pretty much every other day on the phone....but it is hard to hear about all their 'adventures' when I am feeling quite lost here without them.....

My Mom pushed me to get riding....it took me a little while, but I finally got going. It's not the same, but I do enjoy riding the new guy. I haven't been doing any riding since this heat wave started....when it feels like 33 C (91 F) with the humidity by 9 AM, it's hard to feel much like doing anything.....

Here are some pics of Moose (aka Wolfgang Amadeus)....we're still getting used to each other

Gorgeous horse you have there.

Would love to see a video of him, he looks like he can move.

He is gorgeous! You should have loads of fun with him once you get used to each other. Looks like a lot of potential there.

I love that horse. I would have given anything to have a horse like that when I was young. I had $75 horses that I trained. Also, for the most part, I had no one to ride with. Thats when I had my best talks with my horse.

I assume you show dressage with that beautiful beastie...at what level is he?

I too would love to see a video.

Thanks everyone.

I have a video of him that I am trying to get on youtube.....I'm still working on it!

I have only 'owned' him for about 2 months now.....though he has been at the barn for probably close to 10 years now.

My one coach showed him at 3rd level last year. I won't be showing him this year because I cannot afford it, and I don't think I am mentally OR emotionally able to do it this year.

But I am working on flying changes (he has a single change solid now, and I've played around with some tempis a bit), canter pirouettes, canter half pass (playing around with zigzags at both the canter and trot). He has a phenomenal piaffe, and when I get him 'right' he does decent passage. He is an unbelievable trot horse....and lateral work AMAZING!!!! You just think it and he does it, so I'm working on being more subtle with my cues.....Anoki is not nearly as light as this boy is. Moose likes to get behind the bit and curl himself up into a ball, so it is tricky to keep him 'up' and not 'diving', but we'll work on it. He really tries his heart out when I ride him......I'm just worried that he will be wasted if I keep him

I'll work on the video again...but it probably won't get up until early next week now...I'll let you know when it is

He won't be wasted, you will do well with him and learn so much. That perfect horse of a lifetime is just that and even if he has the talent to go further than you can, so what.

A friend of mine had a mare that was very talented and some big time people wanted her for big money, but Carol decided that she would keep her and enjoy her, that is why she bred her and would probably never have a chance to have that horse of a lifetime again.

How is Anoki doing?

Anoki is better. He had a little spazz attack in the paddock yesterday morning....bucking and cantering around. It was nice to see!! I trotted him on a lead the other day, and he looked very sound. The vet is going to check him out the next time we are both at the barn at the same time (she is the new boarder!).

He and Moose have been fighting over me for attention!! They are stalled across the aisle from each other, and if I talk to one, the other one is twisting their head trying to get closer to me.....they miss my coaches too....I know they do.....

Beautiful horse

You look very good on him. I am sure once you are use to him, both of you will go as far as you are up to taking him in the showring. He sounds like a extramly well trained and talented horse. Best of luck to both of you.

Hang in there. Things will get easier...

Your guy has nice movement for dressage. What level is he training at? Nice!
Thanks! He is a very solid 3rd level horse, but I am schooling him for Prix St Georges....need to work on tempi changes. His single changes each way are solid, but I have to get my timing better!

I'd love to have a horse like him!!! I haven't done anything like that in so many years, it isn't even funny.
