Hi all ,

It has been a while since I have been on ..My dad is in the hospital again he has been in since march 24 he has been fighting parkinsons diease for a while now...If you all remember he had major surgery back in october...I had him completely back in shape after that month long hospital stay ...Now he has been in since march 24 fighting a reacurring Uti they put him on antibio's it clears up and they take him off the iv antibio's and within a day he gets this uti back again....He Had a speech and swallow test because when i took him in this time he also had aspiration pneumonia , when he gets these uti's there is no way for me to know he has one until he gets a fever or he has mental status changes and by that time only god knows how long he has actually had it ...

It was pretty bad this time he also got what they call vre vancamicin resistant something, It is some type of bacteria that grows in his bladder and is resistant to one of the most powerful antibio's that they can treat him with...They have tried to tell me to dnr my dad which means do not resusatate ..In my dads living will he stated that he wants everything possiable done to keep him alive ...And I am tring to abide by his wishes against all the doctors suggestions . I just pray that this uti goes away right now they are considering it cronic . My dad asks everyday when i go in to see him to come home and right now he cant because of the uti ...I requested today that if he has to stay on iv antibio's that they train me how to do them at home and I'll bring him home ...If it is cronic he will need to be on Iv antibio's to try to fight it and i know that eventually he will become immune to most antibio's that they would treat him with..

I just dont know what to do except reach out to my forum family and ask for prayers we can use all the prayers we can get ...Thank you everyone for listening and I will keep everyone updated.....

So sorry to hear that your dad is not well.

With respect to his wishes vs the advice of the doctors, that is a really difficult position to be in. We went through a similar experience with my mum several years ago, and the family was deeply divided over it.

Prayers for your dad, and also that you will know in your heart what to do, and have a peace about whatever you decide.

I am sorry that your Dad is having heatlh problems. We are going through this here too. I will keep your Dad in my prayers. Our forum family is great support and they sure are good at sending up prayers. The prayers are helping my Dad, and can help yours too!

Prayers sent we too were in the same spot a few years ago only my mom did have a DNR in place. It too can cause a division in families. I just did the best I could to honor her wishes and God did the rest. ((((HUGS)))

Thank you all very much for your prayers and support ...I think that is why I am second guessing myself because i have no brothers or sisters and i lost mom 16 months ago..So I am the only one ..This is the hardest road I have ever had to travel but I promised mom and dad both that i would take care of them and would keep them at home as long as I was able to..

I have 5 kids plus I take care of dad 24/7 when he is home and we have the horses, I wouldnt trade it for anything ...I just hope the good lord will give us some more time together , I'm not ready to loose dad it hasnt been long since mom passed ...

And i dont know what I'll do if I dont have dad...thank you for your prayers and support I just feel beside myself..

My good thoughts and prayers for your Dad. My goodness you certainly have alot on your plate with losing your Momma and your Dad not feeling well. Please know You, your Dad and your family are all in my prayers.

Prayers and hugs being sent to you.

Vicky
