My daughter Wendy gave birth by emergency c section last Wednesday Abigail Grace was born weighing in at 5 lbs 4 oz She has not needed oxygen on a continual basis just when she "forgets" to breathe

her main problem is apnea- forgetting to breath and her prematurity also causing her to be unable to maintain body temperature and have enough energy to eat. Wendy is nursing and supplementing with bottles - I am in awe of her- she goes to the hospital as much as possible each day, pumps milk in between She & her husband are totally enamored with their new little girl I worry so much for the 3 of them- 7 weeks early is difficult, and she is still neurologically immature Please send them your prayers We are praying for her healthy release from the hospital The doctor is saying maybe by T Giving- This was not what they planned for their first experience with birthing!

It is so hard seeing your child go through something like this & not being able to "fix" it The only thing I can offer is love and support - I went throiugh this with my last child & know how hard it is to leave your baby at the hospital

On the other hand- Abby seems to be a feisty little one so am sure she can handle the ponies!

You got it sweetie! Prayers and hugs swarming in your direction!!!

Prayers going out for you, your new grandbaby, and your family. It is always such a scary feeling when the little ones are in the hospital. My grandson who is only 1yr. just got out about 2 weeks ago, his oxygen level was dropping without any warning signs. He is now home and doing great. PLEASE keep us informed . (((HUGGS to you ))) Corinne

Prayers being sent! Please encourage her with all you have to continue nursing as much as possible and pumping every 2 hours when she's not with the baby. Premature babies really, really need Mama's milk.

Linda, Love and prayers coming from the auntie of a little girl who weighed 5 pounds and came home on an apnea monitor 3 weeks after being born. That little girl is now literally a rocket scientist in florida, The absolute smartest of her family of 4! It will be ok for little Abby.

Congratulations grandma!

Prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

I too ,have preemie(twin) grandsons still in the hospital and I know what you are feeling,,,,,,,so helpless. They were 3.2 and 4.1 lbs and born at 31 weeks.

My daughter and son-in-law are staying at Ronald McDonald House(what a blessing!) right beside the hospital.

We are 4 hrs away and visit at least every week end but it seems like you just can't do enough. This is also my daughter's first.

With today's technology I feel sure your grand daughter will do great. I love her name BTW!!Sounds like she will be spoiled rotten soon. LOOK OUT then!

HUGS from one grandma to another!!!

Double set of prayers going your way for little Abigail Grace -- from Larry and me!

I had twin girls that size, I know what your feeling! Keep up the breast milk, most important. Brought my babies home and kept breastfeeding them for 6 mos, at the same time, now they are 4yrs. Prayers are coming, I feel your daughters pain, fear, and exhaustion!

Yes, of course, very willingly. She si a good weight for such a preemie, and she sounds like a fighter. Hang in there all of you, she will be OK.

Strong healing prayers coming for you all, especially for Abby. I have a step daughter born at 6 1/2 mos, she had heart trouble, neurologic trouble, temp trouble, same breathing thing as her. She is now 27 yrs old and totally healthy. It was a long haul for her and her parents but with time and much medical magic, such as it was back then, she made it fine. Your sweet baby has the benefit of our newer modern technology. I pray she'll thrive and your family will be that much richer for the experience.

My prayers are with your little one and her family. They are all such little miracles

hi i was reading your letter and didnt know wheather or not to reply, but i had two children that were on life support for two years each, and i lived in intensive care for four years ,and beleive me ive seen it all and the one thing that amazed me was seeing these tiny wee babys come in ,and youd think they would be weak, and they were the best fighters of them all, the smaller they were the stength seemd greater , the nurses said the same , its as if they had so much to give that they wernt prepared to give up, I wish you all the best,
