Here are the promissed pictures of our new night fencing. Still have to run the top wire..and finished running the heavy duty hot wire on the other side. But it gives you an idea. Because of the issues in this area.. the fence is nearly 8' tall.. and with the down sloop.. taller to the predators.

The T-posts are heavy duty and bought special order through feed store. We set them every 7 ' instead of the standart 10'. Camel backs in cememt every 100'.. and two sided camel in the corners. The hot wire is the thickest the market makes..bit of a pain to unroll...but well worth it.

Hot wire on the inside and outside of the fence. I have a predator charger rated for cougars.

The fence is high enough as per Fish and Game..so cougars and bobcats can't jump it. And the lower hot wire discourages coyotes and dogs from digging under.

I have not taken a picture of the gates yet... we put reverse sweeps on them.

Anyway..this will give you an idea.

Okay Shari.......I am impressed!!! That took a lot of thought and planning.

Wow that is a fence!

Is it hot wire all the way up above the woven or just top strands and outside lower? Dang on the tposts! That should encourage critters to go elsewhere!!!

I'm really impressed!! Can I hire you guys to come do mine?? Not kidding!

Holey Moley, Now thats what I call a fence!!! Thats the type of fence the U.S. needs on our border!!...Sorry, could'nt resist !!

I would like to see how you did your gates....do you have to un hook about 8 wires??

Thanks guys!

It is woven field fence with hot wire the lower half, Woven field fence is stretched tight with a fencing rig...and the upper half has that super thick hot wire.. T-posts are a pain to put in...as DH says but well worth it.

No,, only have one hot wire across the gates.. tall enough a person can walk through with out having to unhook it. Will have to show you a picture because there is just no way to discribe it.

This is one of my inventions. Will see if I can get a photo later today inbetween the rain showers.

It took DH & DS about a month of weekends to do 2 acres. At some point the mini pasture will also be redone.

Kari, DH is working long hours right now. But if you have the man power.. he could come over one day on the weekend and show them how to properly put a fence up.

that is one heck of a fence and very workmanlike also. Good Job! You must have some major predators!

Does the charge keep weeds burned off or do you have to trim frequently?

Yes, we have a very active and large predator base. Nieghbors keep feeding them their goats, poultry, horses, calfs and so on...so they think they can come here to have a meal too. NOT!

Normally I did all the weeding by hand...but after I was hurt.. I can't. Normally I am pro organic everything but I can't physically do that any more... so as I hang my head in shame... I am using half doses of the 4 month lasting round up...just along the new fence line. The charger can handle the weeds but we need to have a clear site line.

We have many years of putting up Farm fencing and lots of practice.

Now that is a fortress if I've ever seen one!

Others with predator problems and X husbands take note!

This should be pinned!

Sorry it took so long to get a photo of the gate. Used my old camera..so the photo isn't as good.

Under the gate we have 1" by 1" heavy duty hardware cloth(metal) it is burried deep enough and packed down so the horse can't hurt themselves..and placed so dogs or coyotes that try to dig under, can't.

The Woven gride gate... has what we call a "Sweep" on it. Normally DH hangs the gate so high that we have to put the sweeps on the bottom.. (called that because the fencing sweeps the ground as we open the gate)

This time we needed a reverse Sweep, to keep animals from jumping through the top bar or over the gate. It is the same Woven field fence folded over and attached to the gate.

Thanks! With the predator base ...and the lastest problem when Ella got attacked, we had to do something. Can't stay up 24/7 and lights, noise and all that doesn't faze the predators around here. Having this night pasture lets me sleep and not worry, which is really nice. Now have to do the rest of the farm that way!!
