I just bought/rescued a pregnant mare. She's 10 years old. She was in a tiny "barn" in a tie stall next to her stallion friend (father of her foal). She's underweight, and was in a stall full of manure with no bedding.

Last year, she lost her foal. The only information I have is that she was healthy throughout her pregnancy until she foaled. But she had to foal in an extremely tiny stall. And this was possibly the cause of death. I'm talking about a stall so small she could not have possibly even had room to lay down.

She is due in 2 months. Right now, I'm trying to safely get weight on her, and hopefully help her deliver a healthy foal.

Any suggestions on what to do? She is my first Mini.

Bless you for rescuing this poor mare!!!! Can you possibly post pictures so we can see just how bad off she is?

Any idea of what they were feeding her before you got her? I would definitely have a vet look at her...they can help with the best nutritional suggestions. BE SURE TO GO VERY SLOW WITH WHATEVER DIET YOU CHOOSE!!! GOOD LUCK-PRAYING FOR A HEALTHY FOAL!!!

Hi, I don't know if you have read the forum about Body Builder. I own a mini farm and started using Body Builder on a mare that couldn't have a live foal. When it worked I put every broodmare on my farm on it. If you will email me with your address I would love to send a bottle of it to you. Not only will it help to her to get her muscle tone and weight back on it will balance her hormones to have an easier pregnancy. Understand please that I don't mean to offend you by offering the BB. My goal with BB is not to get rich ...I will never achieve that I own 26 minis LOL...my goal is to get to every horse/owner that needs it. It benefits every horse! But, my heart goes out to horses in need. There is hope! Before anyone states that their are other horses on this forum that have recently been rescued/bought in horrible conditions. I have already spoke with those folks and the bottles are in the mail. If it works on your mare and I promise it will you can pay me if you wish or just order another bottle. Believe when I see a mare in need I DO step up to do what I can. And, for the folks that have ordered and paid I hope that this doesn't offend you. I appreciate the business. Back to the if I was rich...I would just mail it out to everyone free of charge. But, think of it this way...my customers help me to help the horses in need. We as a mini community have to be here to help one another.

Missy
