The latex gloves......they will help retain heat. I used to do inventory work and we had to count all items in the freezers in the grocery stores!! Thought I would just die my hands would get so cold. One day I wore a pair of my latex gloves and what a difference!!! Mind you, I was touching boxes of frozen or bags of frozen veggies for 20-30 minutes straight.

In that situation you still got some cold but, before using them the fingers could be numb. So they are an option and I usually buy a box of 100 at the WM pharmacy area to keep in the barn anyway.

I've also used them when I had to do things in cold weather when you needed to have full use of your hands/fingers, like holding a hoof to work on it, mixing feeds/supplements, filling a syringe, etc. Some protection via holding your own body heat. I like my soft leather for most of the year. When extreme or wet, well the bulkier ones get used. Neoprene should be a good alternative -- works for the divers and winter surfers here at the Beach.

This thread makes me shiver just reading it

I buy the bigger latex gloves and put them on top of my other gloves when I know I will be getting my hands wet. Keeps the water out and my hands stay warm. If I think they will tear, i will put another pair of gloves over them.

Taylor Jo PLEASE post EXACTLY which Muckers you have. If the snowmobile boots die I'll get me a pair.
Here you go Whitney. I bought them last winter so I don't know if they still have them but I'm sure they'll have something like it. I love them. I turn them down like in the pic.

I went and looked for a tag or receipt and can't find it as I wanted to find the model number of them but couldn't. I got mine from a Farm and Hardware store, any place like that should have them. Sorry, wish I could have helped more, TJ

Whitney,

I live in MI and have a set of Muck boots. I LOVE the boots. They are nice and warm in the winter, completely water proof, easy to slip on and off, and do not get sucked off if you have to tromp through mud.

I have had them through one winter now and they are as good as new. I highly recommend them. :)

Tracy

Jayne I was looking at the muck boot but I got mixed reviews from some friends that have them, not being WARM enough for Michigan winters. How cold does it get there?
However I DO have those gloves but I use them when I trim horses there grippy and the mud and "stuff" wipe right off.

I ditto that Tracy. "completely" water proof. Sometimes I tromp through puddles and mud just to have "fun" JUST because I have them. My trip to the barn is all through grass and it gets wet and sometimes soggy but that's about it. HOWEVER, it sure is nice to have them in the deep snow. Goes through the snow with out any problem. Plus, I have to go too the back pasture to dump my shavings and I have to go aways and they're sooo comfortable to walk in. Ahhh.....TJ

Add a polar fleece neck warmer--keeps your neck and chin warm without the straggling ends of a scarf, plus they are easier to move your neck in. jennifer

I was thinking along the lines of butterscotch schnapps and hot chocolate.

Or do like we did, after living 30 some years in WI we moved to TX.

That is more like what I was thinking. My husband and I drink Apple Cider and Brandy and Blackberry Brady and Tea when its cold out. You should see the fridge in the barn that I board at, bunch of lushes.

I love mine. It got down to -20 below and my feet stayed nice and toasty warm. When it gets that cold I do wear a little heavier socks.
