Lainey free whelped 6 puppies (5 boys, 1 girl) last Friday (Dec 10), starting at 6:30 PM and everything finished by 9:00 PM!!! This was the first litter that I did not have to have a cesarian section, so it was nice to not be rushing off to the vet's! Unfortunately, Lainey's mothering instincts did not kick in right away, and we lost one of the pups the first night. It was quite a bit smaller than the rest, and just did not look well from the beginning. The first couple of nights were rather exhausting, since Lainey had to be monitored with the pups non-stop. BUT, now everyone is doing fantastic....she has turned into a great mom, and the pups are thriving (boy are they FAT!)!

I'll attach a few pictures, and I will keep the updates coming when I can (between the holidays it might be a bit tricky).

Hope everyone enjoys! I forgot how much I enjoy listening to a litter of puppies nurse!

Congrats to you all!!! Lainey just had to get used to the idea of being a mama.....she looks very happy......

Congrats! Am glad to hear her mothering instincts have kicked in. As much as I love puppies I hate whelping and the first two weeks afterwards. After almost 25 yrs I know just what can go wrong.

Seems after the first two weeks I can breath easier and enjoy the babies!

Of course with four 12 week old IG babies running around I am not so sure my house will survive!

Thanks everyone! I am excited to see how these guys develop!!!

I know what you mean....I get all anxious waiting to know *if* they are expecting, then about 2 days before they whelp, I get very nervous!!! lol but I guess when 2 out of 3 have been cesarians (both for very different reasons!), I guess I have reason to be that way!

I do so love watching your corgi litters grow and Lainey is about as cute as they come herself. May have to get myself one of those someday!
