My 6 month old pup got into some old turkey stock leftover from Thanksgiving (don't ask...). He has thrown up a couple of times and seems to feel fine now, bouncing around, but my stomach is still unsettled from smelling it

, so I imagine his might be too. Ugh. Anything mild I can safely give him, like Maalox? The other dogs are pretty tough LOL, they seem to eat anything and everything with no ill effects but I think this one is going to be "dainty".

I don't know, good question, but if it makes you feel any better, we found a whole caserole of stuffing that we forgot about in the bottom of our vegatable compartment today in the refridgerator. Oh man.....now that was rank.........

Maybe a little malox wouldn't hurt

Hope you both feel better soon!

Actually if the puppy "yakked" it all up that should be good......limit food intake and allow water and it should all be good.

Dogs seem to not suffer much once they relieve themselves of the offending item/food

.....if your still concerned...rice is usually a good mild food for upset dog bellies.

Actually the rule of thumb is to not give anything but ice cubes until you get 24 hours with NO vomiting. Once he passes that point you can give small amounts of water often. If he holds that down for several hours then start him on boiled hamburger and boiled rice (50/50). Make sure to drain the fat and rinse the meat. Then mix 1/2 beef and 1/2 rice. Give him a small amount. you're mainly testing his stomach, not trying to make up for lost time/meals. If he holds that down, great, give him a bit more. You can gradually increase and wean him back onto his regular puppy food over a period of several days. He should do fine! Take care and good luck!

We always try a little PLAIN yogurt too. No fruit, or flavoring. Just a dollop at a time not the whole container:) It has good bacteria for the tummy.

I even gave it to newborns when I raised the Danes as that was before all the new stuff out and this works pretty well.

My vet recommended plain white Kaopectate when my dog was puking up bile a couple years ago, then just water til she held that down, then a bland diet for a few days (white rice and meat baby food). [i figured out what she got into... She ate the blood "sponge" from a package of meat, and she finally passed it a couple days later. yes, I was lucky she passed it and things weren't any worse than they were.]
