Are miniatures elidgible for the Ky breeders incentive fund?? If so where can I find the rules and regulations for it??

Thanks

Is there a KY breed association representing miniatures? If so, they are responcible for drafting rules and regulations, submitting them to the Racing Commission, and administering the program. CURRENTLY miniature horses are not included in the incentive program, however, 2009 breeding season is the start of a new cycle. All programs must be ready to go for the 2009 breeding year.

I believe it is the same assoc.that represents thoroughbreds in KY. I believe the horse must be bred and resulting foal must be foaled in KY. Earleen Roberts (I am sure Natalie can answer a ton of questions on this also) from Nostalgia Farm know quite a bit about this. They should be able to point anyone in the right direction.

Hope they don't mind me putting their names out there,

Carolyn

Natalie told me recently that 2009 the mini's should be accepted into the incentive program and payouts should start 2010.

I believe it's called the Blue Grass Miniature Horse association that is covering the "miniature' aspect and is combined AMHA/AMHR. Good luck finding out much otherwise.. the best resource i've found was Natalie. I saw an ad for their farm horses for sale and to contact them for more info on it and she was very helpful! not much online under their web site and stuff even for other breeds!!

I have heard that the necessary paperwork has already been submitted and approved for the incentive and that it will start in 2009 with the first breeding season. Points earned will be for amha shows at this time. Earleen or Natalie Roberts of Nostalgia Farm or Debbie Meek of DSB Farm would be able to help with further questions. It would be best to contact one of them as they know more about this.

It sounds like a great plan and I hope it all works out. It will be good for the miniature horse industry from breeders, trainers, and people who purchase minatures bred and foaled out in Ky. I think also it is retroactive back a certain number of years also on some horses, so they may be eligible. People that show these miniatures can have a nice pay back and it will really help with the expenses of showing their horses! Laura

Earleen Roberts gave us some more info today at our Bluegrass Club meeting. I don't want to put in writing here what was duscussed as I don't want to mis speak................ I'm assuming the info will be on our clubs website once it gets near or finalized ( lots of paper work involved )............ Earleen said she is still waiting to hear from AMHR so yes right now it is just AMHA horses.

I just talked to Earleen Roberts. She said that we won't know until late January. If you have any questions you can call her but she cannot give out detailed specifics just yet.

Thanks for jumping in on that one Cathy. I know Earleen was very knowledgable about it when I spoke with her.

Since the program runs every three years ending Dec 31st, 2008 and beginning anew on Jan 1st, 2009, and at which point all rules, regulations, and breeds are locked for a period of three years, why will the organization not be releasing rules until late January?

Nathan,

I do not know the details. Call Earleen if you want to know more.
