Just finished a 70x60 painting. I'm not sure if I need to spray coat or do I leave it alone?

This is my first commissioned peice and I finally finished it, and don't want to hurt the work.

Thanks!

I always spray them with 2-3 coats Krylon Matte Sray.

If working in acrylics, I usually paint on a layer of matte (or gloss) acrylic medium. I like that it can add texture if you don't thin it down.

In oils, they sell varnishes for the purpose.

I don't prefer sprays.

I have not ever sprayed them or used a coating. BUT it wouldn't hurt to check at a local art store. After all that work, I wouldn't want you to have any problems!

I taught acrylic painting for 6 years

I was also sponsored by Cermacoat/Delta paints.

The thing to remember when using a spray finish is to always let the first coat and each coat after dry completely before re spraying. Use light even coats.

I have used some cheaper brands but for sure Krylon is the best. Be sure to shake well

Yoohoo Kay!

Please know it's done "free hand" plus, it's my first time painting houses, boats, sea shore/ocean, etc. (usually do horses)....so please forgive imperfections.

Your picture looks very nice seashells. Is there any way you can post it bigger?

Yes, come on Kay don't ignore all the requests. I would love to see some of your work also.

Hi, I just emailed it to you....I do have a larger picture, but don't know why it's so tiny on here (I don't know how to make it larger for the forum).
