Sometimes the maidens who don't like to be touched turn out to be the best Moms so I would worry if I were you unless you find you have a problem. Good luck.

I have been worrying about this same thing. We have an 8 year old maiden

mare that has taken us two years to get in foal. Recently I happened to

talk with the man who used to own her mother and he shared with me that

he had two foals out of her and she rejected both of them at birth. Of course

one of them is now the mare I own. After hearing this news I had become

concerned she may follow in her mothers footsteps, so I have also been trying

to "prepare" her for a foal. She has been doing the same thing as others have

mentioned when I try to feel/touch her udder. She lays her ears back and raises

her leg as in to say you are way over the line here. She isn't due for another 3

months, so I am continuing to work with her.

I hope my worries are unfounded!!
