For those that haven't read my other post I got a pleasure harness from Ozark and the back strap/crupper is too long. I did some measuring and sent them an email. They have been amazing about helping me get this worked out. My two options are a strap and crupper for a show harness that DOES NOT have the spot for the hip strap of the breeching to go through or having one special made that does. They said I can just set the hipstrap in front of the buckle on the show strap/crupper. Is there anyone with a set up like this that does not have the breeching attached to the back strap?

Which option do you think would be better. Oh and the special order will take 6-8 weeks which is about the amount of time I have before the snow starts to fly.

I would not use the show backband. It's impossible to adjust the hipstrap at all and that can make the fit so bad that it's worse than if the breeching itself didn't fit.

Looking at the photos on your other thread, I still think the main problem is that the breeching itself is too short. Your backband seemed fine; once the breeching itself is long enough, the hipstrap will hang properly in its correct forward position without being pulled back by the breeching.

I don't have enough adjustment in the crupper to make it fit. I can make the back strap short enough but then it pulls the hip strap. If I make the back strap long enough so it doesn't pull the hip strap I can't adjust the crupper enough. When I put his tack back on the breeching seemed fine. The ring was in front of his back leg. In the pics I took I think it was pulled a little to the side facing away from the camera.

I think I'll see if they'll have one made for me and how much that will cost.

The hipstrap won't be pulled back if the breeching is longer because the point where the hipstrap attaches to the breeching will be further forward- extra length is added in the long part under the tail, not between the breeching ring and the point where the hipstrap attaches. Where you showed it (up by the point of his hips) is a correct location for the hipstrap, it's only the lower part that is a problem. The breeching ring should be up by the flank and it's okay if it's a little forward of that too.

Okay I have a larger breeching on a used harness for a B size mini. The saddle was way to big for Major so that's why I got this new harness. But maybe I'll try the bigger breeching with the new harness. I was going to before but didn't since it seemed like the breeching on the new harness would work. This way I'll know for sure. I see what you are saying in ^^ post. Thanks for all your help. There isn't anyone close to me here that drives (or has the time or patience to help me) so I rely pretty heavily on the help here and books.

Not a problem! Most of us learned that way to start with as well.
