Well, he is a happy happy bird now that he has "come home". He just loooves being a spoiled city bird! He will now step-up onto a perch (not onto my hand yet though) and even will come out of his cage on the perch instead of being caught in a towel. He showers in the tub like a big boy now, and he spends hours every day on his temporary play gym. He will have a natural branch "tree" just as soon as I can get back to the valley and make him one! He is NOT afraid of my cat at all, in fact they are quite good together, though of course they are NEVER unsupervised. I haven't been bitten in weeks. The boyfriend is really warming up to the idea of keeping him long term now so I think he will be staying with me. Jeremy even talks about how we will bird proof the spare room when he moves in with "us" (me, the bird and the cat LOL) so Merlin can stay out on his gym all day. I'm amazed at the progress I've made in a little over a month with him, it can only get better from here! I can't wait to see how he is after 6 months or a year with me. Hoping to get the BF involved with training soon too, but for now he is too timid of Merlin. He DID go close to his gym to talk to him the other day though.

Here are some recent pics of Merlin, in the shower, looking in the mirror, perching on my bathrobe (he looves my bathrobe and it helped him overcome his fear of towels YAY), and on his playgym:

Elmo is STILL his favorite toy. If I stress him out a little during a training session I just whistle his Elmo phone tune and he settles down LOL

Ooooooo, he's so pretty! Er, handsome! It's great that he's coming along so well.

I'm debating if I should show these pictures to Darrin when he gets home. We went to the bird store last weekend to get food and supplies for Lulu (our little tiel). They had a young Senegal in there that Darrin just fell in love with. The bird was quite interested in him too, especially his wedding band. They played together the whole time I shopped, and Darrin left trying to figure out how to come up with money to get him.
