Hello All,
Ribbons for Linda (RFL) is a non-profit organization created in memory of our friend Linda Best, who after a strong fight sadly succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
Each year, 42,470 people in the US are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Less than 5% of those who are diagnosed live for five years after their diagnosis. Remission is extremely rare. This "silent killer" has such poor prognosis because there aren't many symptoms early on. If there are symptoms they are usually overlooked and diagnosed as something else, such as pancreatitis. We need to continue raising awareness of this harsh reality, called pancreatic cancer. In hopes of finding a cure or at least a better understanding of this cancer, RFL is looking, through fundraising, to raise money that can be used to aid in pancreatic cancer research.
This year, RFL is putting together a fundraiser cookbook. Thanks to all of you who have already generously contributed recipes so far. As of today, we are at 176 recipes! Our goal is 250 by January 15th. Please help us by sending us your favorite recipes. There is no limit to how many you may send. If you do not want your name published in the cookbook, please tell us so we can list anonymous. All proceeds will go toward pancreatic cancer awareness and research in Linda’s name. The cookbook will be published just in time for Easter, Mother's Day and the upcoming show season. Again, the deadline is January 15th, 2010.
Later this year, we are planning another Fall Fun Horse Show for “big” horses and miniature horses on October 10, 2010 at the Cumberland Fairgrounds, Cumberland, Maine. This will be a laid-back, fun day with a pot luck lunch; no halter classes, no show clothes and no clipping necessary. It will be a relaxing day for you, your horses and your friends where the monies raised will go to this great cause.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
