ROSE FOALED!

MONDAY 2 AM.

We had a short mare stare! Going by Rose's signs, I put the beeper on her and she foaled 6 hours later!

We had an easy time. Pushing & pushing with nothing going on, so I reached in, broke the bubble and reached in to see what there was. One foot next to the nose so when I brought the leg forward, out came the baby!

Daddy is Nort! (my avatar)

And mom is Rose!

SHE is black with a lil star and her right eye is blue.

I'm smitten! SHE's so friendly and sweet!

We had had a blizzard and the ground had been very muddy so I waited until today to let her out. It's still muddy but it's mostly dry.

Here she is, two days old and having her first look around!

I have a dumb habit of holding the camera sideways

She has a dorsal and shoulder bars and little stripes behind her front knees. But I'm sure she'll be black later. Nort is black, Rose is black, both her parents were black. If she ends up bay, that would be fine too!

Every foal I've ever met has "humped-a-kick" when you or the dam touches them on their rumps. NOT this girl! Right out of the box, she loved it and turns to groom you right back!

Her full sister is Rhymes N Roses
