Oh Jill I am so sorry about Sky. I am sure you will be relieved later just to know that you tried. Sometimes you can do everything for them and nothing happens. Atleast you tried. He's in horsey heaven and will be missed. I have never had to go through this before but I was there when a friends old horse would get up and there was no way we could help him. He was 45 years old!! It was hard I even cried too.

Sky was put to sleep this afternoon

My vet felt his eyes were different and that he looks like he is depressed, where he did not look that way last week.

Dr. Schmidt told me if Sky where his horse, this is what he'd do for him.

Jill

I'm so very sorry, Jill.

I'm actually impressed with your vet for recognizing that "look" in your horse, Sky. Not all vets are sensitive to that.

Jill, I am so sorry that Sky no longer lives on earth, but I know he will always live in your heart.

He was such a lucky horse to have had such a loving, caring human for so many years. It takes true courage and love to make that difficult final choice for such a dear friend, but you made the right choice.

Farewell, Sky

HUGS Jill! I had to do the same with my 27 yr. old arab mare last year and my 17 y.o. TB. HUGS!

Thank you, everyone.

It's not easy, but I have known this day was looming for a long time.

A part of me is relieved not to have to keep trying to figure out what the right thing to do by Sky is. What my vet said without me having to ask was what I needed to be told. He is a wonderful vet and a very kind and perceptive person.

He was a very special, extremely smart, and loving horse. He truly changed my life and in only good ways.

so sorry for your loss os Sky sounded like a great horse and it's so hard to do the right thing sometimes when left with that choice, but ((((Hugs)))) to you because that is what you need right now

I can understand a sense of relief with trying to find out what can help him

I'm so sorry you lost your longtime friend Jill. {{{hugs}}}

He was a good boy. He'll always be with you.

Awww Jill.....I'm so sorry about your Sky! I know you'll miss him, just remember all the good rides you had with this beautiful boy. ((Huggss)) to you ...I went thru this a few years ago.

Aw, Jill, I'm so sorry. I feel so badly that he had to go, but you have to take comfort in the fact that you did what you could for him, and he knows that you loved him.

((((hugs))))

Very sorry for your loss, Jill. I had to face euthanizing two of my senior "bigs" this week. What a hard sad time, though at least we have the power to give them that final peace and release from suffering.

Sky knows you loved him and will always be in your heart.

I'm hear if you need to talk.

As Caleb would say.... Big hugs.....

Jill, I am so very, very sorry for your loss...

I am proud of you though, for doing what was best for Sky, that shows an inordinate amount of love and respect! He was a Beautiful Boy, and deserved no less! And I am sure that he knew that he was well loved, you can see his joy in the pictures!

Our most sincere condolences Jill and Harvey. Big Hug ((((((((((((((Sky))))))))))))))

Man, it stinks to have to even contemplate letting someone you love go like that. And to have to do it, is devastating. I am so sorry, you gave him a wonderful life!!!

...such a hole will be left in your life but all your wonderful

memories will help you thru.......

I truly believe it is a great gift to those we love, to know

when it is time to let them go.

Take care!
