The invoice is supposed to be the actual price paid for the horse.

Customs can go to your web site and check prices. Maybe you don't have prices on your site but I just don't think an incorrect invoice is worth the worry.

We have brought horses into Ontario from the U.S. as recently as October 28th, 2010 and the paperwork I mentioned in my earlier post was what we were advised to have.

Customs only seemed to be interested in the vet paperwork and the invoice.

I think they must be talking about the Federal Vet paperwork when they say "Exportation papers"

I just sent a horse yesterday to Canada. He needed a federally stamped(raised stamp) on his coggins and a special set of health papers(not like the ones we use for shows). Your coggins needs to be sent to a federal vet office to be stamped. Not done by the regular vet. At least this is how I had to handle it. I also sent a bill of sale. Hope this helps.

See, I don't know. I assume the vet knows how & what we need? This same vet did the paperwork the last 2 times we sold to Canada. But good point! We're going to have to find out!

Cuz I don't have a clue!

We had the coggins done first, which they kept, then told them when it was time to send for the stamp. I hate to keep bugging them at the office but we've fed these horses for 3 months now waiting for the shipper and I want to make sure it's RIGHT.

I like to also suggest that if the horses are on your web site and you have a price on them you might want to remove that to sold- I have been stopped 2x now at the border where the customs officers had me wait while they went into another room called the people I bought the horse from and tried to get them to admit to a different amount than I purchased the horse for- there fore would have had to pay higher taxes. It was obvious to the seller than the officers were on her web site and had done a little homework before they called them.

Just intresting info.

Hubby just picked up the stuff! He went through the check list of things you all mentioned, and it was all done right.

I thought the vet knew how to do it! But she shipper calling the health papers exportation threw me.

Whew!
