I know I have posted most of these before!! But I love this guy!!! This is Anoki who has goodness only knows what in him....belgian/TB/???? I bought him to get me going with my dressage, since my unbelievably talented mare was not working out.....he has surpassed my goals for him!!!! He is truly a great boy!!! I think he's about 17hh now and he will be 8 this year! I got him 4 years ago....he was about 16.1hh and about 300 lbs underweight!!! Man has he changed!!!

What beautiful big horses. I am so excited to see so many old timers still being cared for

and loved by their families. They all look great. The first is my old timer, 28 year old

Sahr Taron Naborr. My daughter's pony came up with an abcess and she still wanted

to go to the show, so I cleaned the old boy up and she showed him open halter. The

crowd was absolutely in awe. She rides him around the yard all the time bareback with a

halter and lead. He is the most wonderful riding horse ever. I can trust him with anyone.

This is the love of my life and soulmate, Romeo. Green broke at 8 years old and his trainer

said she has never trained a smarter horse. I probably am not doing him justice. Hope to

start him English this summer. Picture taken by my 6 year old so we look GIANT! Pinto/Arabian cross

This is Chic, registered breeding stock paint - name still pending. She is 2 here and I put her into some light trail training this fall. Hopefully she can be my husband's trail horse next year and my show horse.

My daughter's show pony, Shadow. We had just gotten her and were working on training her Western. She is going awesome now and we are really excited for this year.

Here are mine, I currently have 4. All of my riding pictures and better horsey pictures are on my other computer, so these will have to do for now.

This is Sam, a 4 year old I've had since last March. He is technically for sale, though I'm not trying too hard to sell him. He's a sweety just needs more of a job than I can give him. He's 15 hands and we are all pretty darn sure he has mustang in him.

60841samtrotwinter-med.JPG

60841samfrontwinter-med.JPG

This is Moon. She's a 20 year old mustang, lived the first 13 years of her life in the wilds of Northern Colorado. She's a doll and extremely smart, will do anything "I" ask of her, she doesn't trust anyone else. She stands right about 14 hands.

29150moonflymarch.jpg

29150moondirtmarch.jpg

This is Lucy, she's my newest, I got her in May of last year. Lucy is one of those horses with loads of personality who will do anything for anyone with out complaint. She's just my trail horse, and walking only, since we discovered after we bought her that she has an old ankle fracture that didn't heal right, and if she over exerts she goes lame. She's 11 years old and 13.3 hand tall and built like a brick! These were taken the day after I got her, she looks more fit now. Not sure what's in her, but she does show some gaited movement.

60841lucdecem-med.JPG

60689lucyhead.jpg

And last is my Mork, he is 28 this year. He is a half arab, other half is Trakehner. He won a national championship in 1991 for Show Hack. He's about 16.2 hands and loves the trails.

60841Morkoldtrot.jpg

29150morkymarch.jpg

And here is one of my 3 lazy bones, taken back in November.............

608413lazys-med.JPG

Wanted to add some pics of my very first horse......she passed away last February at age 30. I got this mare when I was 9, we did hunter jumper, she was a TB and 16 hands.

29150Amy-med.jpg

29150amygallop.JPG

I also had a 17.2 hand Trakehner gelding that I did jumpers with, he passed away back in 2003 at the age of 25, he was still jumping 4 feet. He was a grand prix dressage horse before I got him, I will have to upload a picture of him off my other computer.

We have two riding horses here. Both are registered arabian mares bred by me. The oldest is SPH Phancyphire(pronounced Fancy Fire). She is a 1998 bay mare with star and is my horse. The second is SPH Sameera Sunnphire. She is a 2003 bay with star, strip and snip and 2 stockings. She is my husbands horse. Photos can be seen on my website in Arabian Horse section. Phancy is 15hh and Sameera is 15.2hh. Both are sweeties. :bgrin

This is Connor. He is a six year old, 16.1 hand Clydesdale/Quarter Horse gelding. We do a bit of Dressage, as well as trail riding.

Pressa our QH is in my avatar. She is barely 15 hands, and is all halter. She is a grandaughter of Te N Te and Ima Cool Skip. Her sire was Press Card a WC weanleaning and was N/H and died after only being breeding for a year. Her Mom is a broodmare that has produced well for their farm. We traced the pedigree back to Man of War, and back to her Arabian roots. Her head only fits into an Arabian halter or bridal. She is just the best to me. Probably in 2008 we'll breed her... just not sure who to yet. She's just six years old.

I have to say... I've had several bad incidents when I ended up falling off her. I have a cheap English saddle that is very large and smooth. One time we were attacked by a bull mastiff and I broke my leg. Pressa never left my side, and eventually dragged me 400 yards back home. The second time, she saw a bear cub and freaked and I ended up in the dirt. I was certain my back was broken. I was on limerock at the time. Pressa went for help at the nearest farm and brought the owner back to me, in record time. The owner said she ran back to me like she was on a race track. The third incident a kid hit her in the jaw with a skate board and I lost it... this time I did break my back. She never left me until my kids came to get her and take her home while I went to the hospital.

I just went out and got a new barrel saddle that is very snug. I am going to ditch my cheap english... too large saddle... not good for trails or much else..

God Bless,

Lynn W

Great thread! Leeana I cant wait to see pics of your new horse!

Ive had 6 big horses all together. We only have 2 right now though, Belle and Blaze.

Belle is an Appendix (QH x TB) mare. She is 7 yrs old and 15.2 hands. She is trained western and english. Im planning to train her to jump.

PICT0305-2.jpg

PICT0203-2.jpg

Blaze is supposed to be pure QH but I believe he has some Arab in him with those ears. He is 5 yrs old and 15.3 hands. He is trained western and english. Im also planning to train him to jump.

PICT0630-2.jpg

These are the 4 big horses I used to own:

Zemosa is a 14.3 hand QH mare. She was my first horse. I got her when I was 8. She took care of me. She taught me all about showing and jumping. I was in the US pony club with Zemosa as well as a member of a 4 horse drill team.

Zemosa-1.jpg

Zemosa2-1.jpg

Jag is a 16.0 hand TB gelding. He was a racehorse and ended up having back problems from being raced too young. We donated him to a horse retirement place where he spends his day grazing and getting loved on.

We have two big QH's. They are both in my avatar. Both are about the same color, both have star, strip and snips and both have one hind white pastern.

Hope to Surprise ya is an 18 year old mare that I have owned since she was 5. I have known her since she was 2. She is a multiple hunt under saddle champion and Western Pleasure champion at local shows. We showed 1 AQHA show in hunter under saddle for fun. She was unable to compete with the big guys.
default_smile.png

Captive Moxie- 2 year old gelding by The Last Captive and out of a mare by Mr. Moxie Man. We bought Moxie has a yearling last February basically sight unseen. I bought him off dreamhorse.com from 2 pictures(both the same angle). It was a true blessing that he has turned out to be the most incredible find. I was very fortunate that the owner who is a dealer was honest. Yes, it's true. There are honest dealers out there. This guy was on the money and told me everything about Mox. Moxie is about 15.2 close to 15.3. His sire is 16.3 and dam is 15.3. We have string tested him at 16 hands. We will see. He has a huge floating trot and lopes everywhere. He will having ground work started later this year, but we will take it slow with him and might light ride later this year, but mostly waiting until next year. I also, paid a very very very small amount for him compared to what his sires foals go for.

My husband took current pictures of them last week. I will try and get them soon and get them posted.

ok fair warning, have patience... these are the BIG loves of my life (in no particular order)

these are my two youngest saying farewell to our first horse, Applejack. due to his age and conditino we had make that very hard decision... we still miss him. he was an awesome horse and taught all three of us to ride...

me and the best horse in the world, Merit's Top Hand aka Paint Mare (i know, i know, but she was owned by a GUY for the first 15 years of her life and THAT's what he called her...) doing the Anthem at Mormon Lake summer 2005; she will do just about anything i ask her (but we did find that she does NOT like to pull a cart!) unfortunately because she was worked so hard roping as a young horse she is now suffering from arthritis and at only 21 has had to retire from riding
default_sad.png
she's so easy, like taking a trail ride in your favorite chair... and ANYONE can ride her and be safe up there. it's so sad that she has gone lame...

LOVE this thread and seeing all the beautiful big horses!

But please, please remember to wear those helmets, ESPECIALLY with the kids!!!!

We have two big horses. One is a grade QH, (at least we don't have any papers on him although

Gary Fleur swore this horse had papers at one time in his life when he came and did his teeth last year).

He has been a rodeo pickup horse, and competitive roper, we're told that if you want to do sorting all you have to do is point out a cow to him and hold on. He goes English and Western, with a buddy seat, and even does dressage. He walks on eggshells with kids on his back and when an adult gets on he's like, "ok, let's go!" He was used in a handicapped rider program last spring, but in the fall they moved the program too far away for us to haul the horses over there every week. What a find for my husband's first horse!

Here is Rex:

IMAG002.JPG

IMAG001.JPG

This is my mare, Doc's Daisy Mae. She is registered APHA (breeding stock). She was also used in the handicapped riders program last spring, but for the more able & advanced riders. She's a real sweetheart around the barn and her and Rex get along beautifully.

Well...not all of ours know how to be ridden(yet), but we have four that are full-sized horses. All ages are to the 1st of Jan...not birthdates.

There's Gabriel, a 4yr old Paint/Clydesdale cross, who will compete in some driving shows this summer, as well as learn to ride. He was started under harness last fall by me and is doing quite well.

ed35c104.jpg

ed35c14c.jpg

Shogun, 30 (!) yr old TB/Arab/Appy cross, who competed extensively in eventing when he was younger, and did two driving shows (one a CDE) after he completed harness training at 26 years young. My mom has had him since he was 2.

f59ccf23.jpg

Then there is Ref, a 9 yr old unreg Paint/QH cross, who has the basics of riding, but much prefers driving. She has competed at several driving shows. She is out of Mazda, one of our other horses, and has mainly been brought up by me.

f59cd7fd.jpg

f9ecb501.jpg

We also have Ref's dam, Mazda, but I don't really have any good pictures of her. She can be ridden, but her main objective in life is a pasture ornament, which she excells at. She is probably about 15/16 and is solid bay.

I have quite a full of them
default_smile.png
We mainly have Quarter horses and Paints..

Here's King. A 9 year old overo paint who was born here. He shows in huntseat and he's 15.2 hands

scan0012.jpg

Honey- 15 year old dunalino mare. We trail ride with her a lot and she's bred to a gorgeous palomino stallion for a late summer foal!

Picture017.jpg

Goldie- A 7 year old Quarter horse who was also born here but we are porbably going to sell him. He's 14.3 hands and a barrel racer/cow horse

GOLDIE003.jpg

Shy a 15 year old Arab X Appy mare. She has done everything from dressage to endurance riding...

SHY009.jpg

Sheba- My first horse. She is now 20 and still going strong. She's the smartest horse I think I've ever seen! She is a QH and is competitive in barrel racing, western pleasure, HUS, and has driven. She is blind in her right eye and hasn't ever been able to foal but that's ok..she's fine the way she is
default_smile.png

GOLDIESHEBA004-1.jpg

China Doll- 16.2 hand mare. She is my main show mare for western pleasure/HUS/halter/showmanship. She is also Sheba's sister. She was a problem horse for a while with previous owner because she was flipping..she turned out to have Navicular disease and she's fine now after we took care of it.

CHINA008.jpg

Blueberry- 12 hand Welsh pony mare. She is an awesome beginner horse and we decided we are going to sell her...
default_sad.png
She will make some little kid happy though!

BLUEBERRY011.jpg

Have a few more, but that's all I have time to post!
